National Inventory & Procurement Manager

Location: Inner West Sydney

Reports to: Managing Director

Team Size: 4 Direct Reports

About the Company

Our client is a successful Australian-owned business operating across Australia, New Zealand and international manufacturing locations. With continued growth, significant investment in operations and a newly created leadership structure, they are seeking an experienced Inventory & Procurement Manager to drive inventory performance, procurement strategy and supply chain optimisation across the business. Managing over 23,000 SKUs, multiple distribution centres and a global supplier network, this role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on business performance.

The Opportunity

Reporting into senior leadership, this newly created role will take ownership of inventory management, demand planning, procurement and supplier performance across Australia and New Zealand. You will lead a team of four while working closely with Sales, Finance, Operations and Warehousing to ensure optimal stock availability, forecasting accuracy and working capital performance.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and will suit an individual who thrives in a data-driven, high-SKU distribution or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and execute inventory and procurement strategies aligned to business growth objectives.
- Lead forecasting, demand planning and replenishment activities across a complex product portfolio.
- Optimise inventory levels, stock availability, inventory turnover and working capital performance.
- Identify and reduce excess, slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and lead commercial negotiations.
- Oversee international sourcing, imports and landed cost performance.




- Monitor supplier performance and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing inventory and procurement team.
- Utilise ERP, WMS and BI systems to provide meaningful reporting and support data-driven decision-making.

About You

- Significant experience in Inventory Management, Supply Planning or Procurement leadership roles.
- Proven success managing large, complex inventory portfolios within wholesale, distribution, manufacturing or importing environments.
- Strong understanding of forecasting, replenishment planning, working capital and inventory optimisation.
- Experience managing international suppliers, sourcing and import activities.
- Advanced analytical capability and strong commercial acumen.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to develop and mentor teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional communication skills.
- Exposure to ERP, WMS and BI platforms, with experience using systems such as Manhattan, Phocas BI, SAP, Oracle or similar is highly regarded.
- Ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational requirements.
