NDIS CAPACITY BUILDING CLINICIAN

Practical. Individualised. Strengths-based.

CQ Psych Services | Gladstone, Central Queensland

Part-time | Employee Position | Initially 1–2 days per week

Love working with neurodivergent children and helping them build skills that make a difference in everyday life?

CQ Psych Services is growing our NDIS Capacity Building services, and we're looking for a qualified professional to join our multidisciplinary team.

This is a hands-on, goal-focused role supporting participants to build practical skills, confidence and independence in line with the goals identified in their NDIS plan.

Emotional regulation. Communication. Independence. Social skills. Executive functioning. Daily routines. Transitions. Play and peer engagement. Participation at home, school and in the community.

Bring your professional strengths and the areas you love working in. We'll give you the systems, resources and support to do great work.

Why CQ Psych Services?

You'll be joining an established multidisciplinary group private practice with strong systems, resources and support around you.

You'll have access to

- Strong, established administrative support
- Existing NDIS referral pathways and client base
- Comprehensive templates, resources and practice systems
- Our Burnout Prevention Caseload Model
- Structured onboarding and training
- Regular professional development and in-house training
- A collaborative multidisciplinary team with professionals across a range of disciplines and experience levels
- Professional autonomy within your scope of practice
- Opportunity to develop your professional niche
- Work laptop supplied
- Guaranteed Christmas leave
- Yaralla Lifestyle Membership
- Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate

We take sustainable practice seriously. Our Burnout Prevention Caseload Model considers more than whether there is an empty appointment in your calendar. We consider caseload mix and complexity, agreed working hours, planned leave and the work that happens around participant appointments too.

The Role

Working within the goals identified in each participant's NDIS plan, you'll use your professional knowledge and experience to plan, deliver and review individualised Capacity Building intervention within your professional scope.

Depending on the participant's goals and your professional background, your work may include:

- Emotional regulation and self-management
- Communication and self-advocacy
- Independence and age-appropriate daily living skills
- Executive functioning, planning and organisation
- Social confidence and peer relationships
- Flexibility, transitions and problem-solving
- Play and peer engagement
- Participation at home, school and in the community
- Parent/carer capacity building
- Development of practical strategies and resources
- Collaborative work with families and other professionals

Intervention is purposeful and linked to the participant's identified goals. Depending on the skill being developed, sessions may use developmentally appropriate strategies such as structured activities, visual supports, guided play, movement-based tasks, modelling, skill rehearsal and practical everyday scenarios. The activity isn't the intervention — the skill we're building is.

Our focus is on helping participants develop skills and strategies that can increasingly transfer beyond the session and into everyday life.

Qualified Background & Qualifications

This position is designed for a tertiary-qualified professional with relevant experience in child development, education, disability, neurodivergence, allied health or another appropriate professional discipline.

Depending on qualified scope and experience, suitable backgrounds may include:

- Counsellors with appropriate tertiary qualifications and relevant developmental/disability experience
- Psychology or Behavioural Science professionals
- Occupational Therapists
- Speech Pathologists
- Other appropriately qualified professionals whose education, experience and professional scope align with the Capacity Building supports provided

Where applicable, applicants will also need to hold appropriate professional registration, accreditation and/or membership relevant to their discipline. Applicants will be required to meet CQ Psych Services' professional insurance, screening and compliance requirements applicable to their role.

Your qualification alone won't determine fit. We'll also consider your professional experience, additional training, areas of competence and the participant group you are appropriately qualified and experienced to support.

Who We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in professionals with experience in:

- Working with children and/or young people
- Autism and ADHD
- Child development
- Disability and Capacity Building
- Emotional regulation

- Strong professional judgement and boundaries
- Clear, accurate and professional documentation
- Confidence communicating with children, families and other professionals
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
- A commitment to reflective practice and ongoing professional development

NDIS experience will be highly regarded, although we're also interested in experienced professionals with strong transferable skills. The participant group and scope of work allocated to the successful applicant will reflect their qualifications, professional scope, experience and areas of competence.

And We're Growing...

CQ Psych Services is currently planning the next stage of our Capacity Building services, including a future dedicated space designed to support practical, flexible and engaging work with children and young people.

The space will provide greater opportunity for developmentally appropriate, goal-directed Capacity Building work, with areas suitable for practical activities, movement and play alongside dedicated one-to-one spaces.

The successful applicant may initially work from our established CQ Psych Services practice before transitioning into the current space as the service develops.

Depending on commencement timing, applicants joining us in 2027 may commence as part of this next stage of our Capacity Building services.

The Position

We anticipate this position initially commencing at approximately 1–2 days per week, with the chance for hours to increase naturally over time as participant demand and the service develop.

We're open to discussing the particular days and working arrangement with the right person.

The successful applicant will be required to hold or obtain all relevant professional, screening and compliance requirements applicable to their role, including relevant NDIS worker screening and Working with Children requirements where applicable.
