Senior Planners – Civil Roads & SMP Construction

Two senior planning opportunities | Major projects | Western Australia

We are seeking two experienced Senior Planners to join major construction projects in Western Australia. These roles suit accomplished project controls professionals who can develop practical, logic-driven programmes, provide clear schedule insight and work closely with delivery teams to keep complex scopes on track.

1. Senior Civil Planner – Roads Project

Project: Major roads infrastructure

Employer: Tier 1 contractor

Location: Western Australia

Join the contractor’s project team and take ownership of planning and scheduling across a significant civil roads package. You will work with construction, engineering, commercial and subcontractor teams to establish credible programmes, monitor delivery and identify practical recovery actions.

Key responsibilities

· Develop, maintain and update the baseline and detailed construction programmes. · Integrate earthworks, drainage, pavements, structures, utilities and traffic-management activities into a coordinated schedule.

· Monitor progress, critical paths, milestones, productivity and schedule risk.

· Prepare look-ahead programmes, progress updates, forecasts and management reports.

· Support delay analysis, extension-of-time assessments and change-control processes.

· Facilitate planning workshops and challenge programme assumptions with delivery teams.

· Ensure schedule logic, coding, calendars and progress measurement are accurate and consistent.

About you

· Substantial planning experience on civil infrastructure or road construction projects. · Strong capability in Primavera P6 and advanced schedule analysis.





· Sound understanding of construction sequencing for major roadworks.

· Experience working for a head contractor or major civil contractor.

· Solid communication skills and the confidence to engage with project leaders, engineers and site teams.

· Relevant engineering, construction or project-controls qualifications are desirable.

2. Senior SMP Planner – Processing Plant

Project: Processing plant construction Discipline: Structural, Mechanical and Piping (SMP)

Location: Western Australia

Take a lead planning role on the construction of a major processing facility. You will coordinate complex SMP workfaces, align engineering and procurement interfaces with site execution, and provide the project team with reliable schedule intelligence from mobilisation through commissioning readiness.

Key responsibilities

· Develop and maintain detailed SMP construction schedules in line with the approved project baseline. · Plan structural steel, mechanical equipment, piping, module installation, testing and completion activities.

· Integrate engineering deliverables, procurement, fabrication, logistics, construction and commissioning interfaces.

· Monitor progress, quantities, productivity, constraints, critical paths and milestone performance.

· Produce short-term look-aheads, progress reports,



forecasts and recovery programmes.

· Work closely with construction supervisors, engineers, subcontractors and project-controls personnel.

· Support schedule risk reviews, change assessments and delay analysis.

About you

· Substantial planning experience on mineral processing, resources, oil and gas, or heavy industrial construction projects. · Demonstrated SMP construction knowledge and a strong understanding of workface sequencing.

· Advanced Primavera P6 skills and confidence working with complex, resource-loaded schedules.

· Experience integrating procurement, fabrication and construction activities.

· Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.

· Relevant engineering, construction or project-controls qualifications are desirable.
