Primary objective
Provide coordinated education programs, sound clinical and education advice, and may provide direct clinical care for complex client presentations within the specialty area.
Context statement
Employing extensive experience,
skills and knowledge in health related curriculum based education and holding current vaccination certification the role focuses on the delivery of primary health care and health promotion within the School Community to provide quality school-based youth services that maintain, facilitate, and promote, the physical, emotional and social health and wellbeing of young people. The position will support interagency collaboration with the Department of Education (DoE) and deliver on the
NT Health and DoE Strategic Directions whilst also delivering the National School Immunisation program in accordance with NT
Health policy. The person must be eligible to hold a current NT drivers licence.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Provide specialist education advice and support professional development activities within a defined area of practice.
- Provide direct support, instruction, and feedback, including mentoring students, graduates, and less experienced staff, across the multidisciplinary team.

- Follows defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, protected services and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
- Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
- Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge, skills, and experience in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery.
- Demonstrated education/training or experience in the development and/or delivery of education theory and practice.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education and professional development for the specialist practice area.
- Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to maximise productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and facilitate a positive learning environment.
- Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for individuals and groups.
Desirable
- Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a criminal history check. A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position. This role carries specific immunisation requirements. To be eligible for appointment you will be required to meet the immunisation requirements associated with Category A healthcare workers (direct contact with blood or body substances).
