Operations Manager / Marine Detailer

Sydney Vessel Management is a family-run marine services business with an established client base across Northern Sydney. We specialise in premium vessel management, detailing, and maintenance services for private boat owners.

We are growing and as such we are currently seeking a reliable, motivated Operations Manager / Marine Detailer to oversee day-to-day operations, manage staff and contractors, and ensure our clients' vessels are maintained to the highest standard.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role combining operations management, staff supervision, client communication, and marine detailing. You will be the primary on-site contact for clients and contractors and play a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Contractor Communication

- Confirm scheduled visits with clients
- Act as the main point of contact for clients and contractors
- Respond to calls, texts, and emails promptly
- Be available outside standard hours when required
- Must be available for occasional calls outside standard business hours

Operations & Administration

- Maintain vessel records and daily job notes
- Update staff hours and schedules
- Log and report maintenance or repair requirements
- Coordinate contractors and trades

Vessel Detailing & Maintenance

- Assist with fortnightly interior and exterior cleans
- Assist with monthly detailing including hand polishing and teak cleaning
- Conduct monthly vessel maintenance checks

Vessel Operations

- Relocate and refuel vessels as required
- Skipper vessels when required or arrange a qualified alternative

Staff Management

- Supervise staff to ensure work is completed to a high standard
- Coordinate weekly staff schedules
- Maintain a safe working environment

Equipment & Materials

- Monitor cleaning materials and supplies
- Keep storage areas clean, organised, and well stocked

About You

You're organised, proactive,



and comfortable working both independently and as part of a small team. You take pride in your work, communicate clearly, and have a strong respect for client vessels.

Essential Requirements

- Master V | MED III (or equivalent) Boat Licence
- Current unrestricted driver's licence
- Experience in vessel management, maintenance, or marine detailing
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience in maintenance, or marine detailing is required
- Competent operating vessels up to 75ft
- Good physical fitness and ability to work at a fast pace
- Must have Australian work rights

Desirable Skills & Experience

- Experience with machine polishing and waxing (preferred but not essential)
- Solid communication and people management skills
- Ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced setting
- High attention to detail and strong work ethic
