New South Wales

Lead a specialist, women led Domestic and Family Violence organisation supporting women in the St George and surrounding communities.

Provide senior leadership across operations, governance, compliance, funding, finance, workforce, and case management services, while remaining directly connected to frontline practice.

Work directly with the Board and alongside the Head of Clinical Services & Community Development to strengthen the organisation and its services.

About Moving Forward

Moving Forward DFV Case Management Services Inc is a specialist, women led organisation supporting women experiencing domestic and family violence across the St George and surrounding communities.

Established in 1985, Moving Forward has a long history of providing practical support to women and families affected by domestic and family violence. We are a small organisation with a solid commitment to quality, safety and accessible, feminist and women centred services.

About the role

The General Manager is responsible for the effective management and operation of Moving Forward, working directly with the Board to implement the organisation’s strategic direction and ensure strong governance, financial management, compliance, workforce management, and organisational systems.

The role has particular responsibility for the case management arm of the organisation, including service delivery, case management practice, funding requirements, reporting and performance. Given the size of the organisation and its parttime workforce, the General Manager will maintain a small case management caseload and provide direct service delivery and backfill when required.

The role combines organisational leadership with direct practice. You will need to be comfortable moving between strategic organisational matters, staff and operational issues, Board reporting, and direct work with women experiencing domestic and family violence.

The General Manager works alongside the Head of Clinical Services & Community Development,

who has direct responsibility for counselling and clinical services, clinical governance, clinical practice and practice development. Both positions report directly to the Board and work collaboratively across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day management and operation of Moving Forward, implementing Board decisions and organisational priorities.

Provide operational leadership of the case management service, including service delivery, workflow, targets, reporting, and funding requirements.

Maintain a small case management caseload, including risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy and referral, and provide backfill when required.

Oversee organisational governance, compliance, risk management, accreditation, and quality improvement.

Ensure funding, contractual, legislative, and reporting requirements are met.

Monitor budgets, expenditure and financial performance, and provide appropriate reporting to the Board.

Lead recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance management, supporting a skilled and sustainable workforce.

Maintain effective organisational systems, policies, procedures and processes.

Develop and maintain relationships with government, funding bodies, community organisations, and DFV sector partners.

Work alongside the Head of Clinical Services & Community Development to ensure operational and clinical priorities are appropriately coordinated.

Provide the Board with clear reporting on organisational performance, risks, finances, and service delivery.

Contribute to strategic planning, organisational development, and the ongoing sustainability of Moving Forward.
