About the role n
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our People & Communications team in Adelaide on an 11-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, East, you will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate payroll processing across designated regions and business units. Working closely with People & Communications, Finance and operational leaders, you will support payroll governance, reporting, reconciliations and continuous improvement. This is a great opportunity for a detail-focused payroll professional who enjoys solving problems and providing reliable support to employees, managers and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Include n
n
- Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on time across weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
n
- Maintain payroll records and process current starters, employee changes, transfers, leave and terminations.
n
- Calculate salary adjustments, allowances, deductions, overtime, leave payments and back pays.
n
- Respond to payroll queries and provide timely support to employees and managers.
n
- Ensure payroll activity complies with legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, contracts and company policies.
n
- Prepare payroll reports and support month-end reconciliations, journals and leave liability reporting.
n
- Support statutory obligations including PAYG, superannuation,
payroll tax and workers compensation.
n
- Contribute to payroll process improvements, system enhancements, testing and implementation activities.
n
What You’ll Bring nn
- At least three years’ payroll processing experience within a medium to large organisation.
n
- Sound understanding of payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and employment obligations.
n
- Knowledge of modern awards, enterprise agreements and employment conditions.
n
- Experience using payroll and time and attendance systems.
n
- Understanding of payroll accounting concepts, reconciliations and reporting.
n
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- High attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
n
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and Microsoft Excel skills.
n
