Our Client is an international leader in the Manufacture, Development and Supply of Home Entertainment, Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances.

With a well-established presence in Australia they are undergoing significant growth.

The role includes administration of product liability claims, management of Fair Trading complaints and acting as the company representative in Consumer Tribunal cases. It is the primary contact point for escalated ACL and privacy inquiries/complaints. You will also assist the GM Legal & Compliance with development and implementation of the company’s compliance program for Australian Consumer Law, Privacy and Information Security.

Key responsibilities:

- Review and maintain PL case management policies and procedures and train operational staff
- Assessment of PL claims to determine liability and settle response to claimants
- Lodge insurance claims with loss adjuster and address insurer’s queries
- Act as main contact point for PL insurer / loss adjuster and coordinate settlement payments
- Company representative for Tribunal hearings, investigate and prepare submissions, attend case conferences and hearings.
- Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk
- Develop,



review and revise compliance risk management policies and manuals including the Competition & Consumer Act compliance, complaints handling, privacy policies/regulations

Ideal candidates will have:

- Career Paralegal or junior Compliance Officer with experience dealing with Australian Consumer Law and Privacy matters.
- Advocacy experience in Tribunals or other jurisdictions
- Experience management insurance (preferably product liability) claims.
- Compliance qualifications or on the job experience managing compliance programs, policies and procedures.
- Experience with product liability/ consumer law / privacy law
- Well organized and capable of handling a heavy workload and deadlines
- Strong drafting and communication skills
- Close attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Strong time management skills
- Substantial knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Ability to conduct compliance training.
