Grid Connection Manager | Data Centre Infrastructure | Australia

We're working with a global developer and operator of hyperscale data centre infrastructure that's scaling rapidly across the Australian market to support the largest cloud and technology platforms in the world. This is a load-side connection role rather than a generator connection role, which makes it a genuinely different technical proposition. You're managing the grid interface for transmission-scale critical infrastructure, not negotiating a generator's performance standards. What you will be doing:

n
- Owning the technical grid connection process end to end for large-scale data centre developments, from early feasibility through to energisation
n
- Managing technical engagement with AEMO, VicGrid, TNSPs and DNSPs, including submissions, information requests and approvals
n
- Leading development and negotiation of Connection Performance Standards and Generator Performance Standards, along with the broader power system study programme covering load-flow, fault-level, dynamic, EMT, harmonic and power quality studies
n
- Reviewing and challenging consultant outputs and modelling assumptions rather than personally producing every study, so your judgement carries the weight, not just your modelling hours
n
- Coordinating and performance managing external technical consultants, specialist contractors and OEM technical resources, including equipment suppliers across UPS, transformers, generators and BESS
n
- Acting as the technical bridge between the network and internal engineering and delivery teams,



ensuring the connection solution and the delivered project stay aligned
n
- Maintaining technical governance, risk tracking and decision records across the connection programme
n

What they are looking for:

n

n
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline
n
- 8+ years across power systems, electricity networks, generation, large industrial loads, data centres or major electrical infrastructure
n
- Solid grounding in Australian grid connection processes, with experience working directly with AEMO, VicGrid and TNSPs or DNSPs on complex connections
n
- Comfortable interpreting RMS and EMT modelling results and managing specialist consultants against clear scopes and acceptance criteria, without necessarily running the studies yourself
n
- Solid understanding of HV systems, substations, transformers, protection and power quality
n
- Experience with transmission-scale large-load connections or hyperscale data centres is highly regarded, as is exposure to PSCAD, PSS/e or PowerFactory and higher voltage infrastructure (132kV and above)
