About our client

Our client is a Western Australian family business that manages accommodation villages for mining clients, providing catering, cleaning and hospitality services. The business has grown quickly and now operates 13 sites under one Operations Manager, with a support team covering scheduling and compliance, procurement, payroll and HR.

It is ISO accredited for quality, safety and environment, and has operated sites in the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales, with its focus on Western Australia. Rather than the standardised model of the large mining services providers, our client offers a personalised, hospitality-focused service, and its mining clients expect restaurant-quality food.

About the opportunity

This role leads our client’s largest site, an accommodation village in Kalgoorlie that serves about 400 people a day. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead the Site Administrator, Operations Officer, Head Chef, chefs and cleaners.The focus of the role is auditing standards, running meetings and resolving issues, rather than carrying out the tasks yourself.

In this role, you will:

- Deliver accommodation, cleaning and catering services to the scope of works, the 5-week cyclic menu and our client’s quality standards
- Keep food costs, daily labour costs and staffing levels within budget and in line with occupancy
- Lead the site team through performance management, safety and ISO compliance
- Build a skilled working relationship with the mining client’s on-site team to support retention of the site contract

Day to day, you will run the morning prestart, complete room and kitchen audits,



check chef orders against the food cost budget, match staffing to occupancy and report to the Operations Manager daily, weekly and monthly.

About you

You are an experienced village or site manager from a mining accommodation, catering or hospitality background who leads through others. You manage performance rather than stepping in to do the work, audit with integrity, and handle client relationships diplomatically while representing your employer. You are resilient and bring a hospitality mindset.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Five years’ experience in a village manager or similar site management role
- Experience managing a similar or greater number of man-days
- A demonstrated ability to manage, support and performance manage staff
- A Food Safety Supervisor certificate as a minimum (HACCP training can be provided)
- A current First Aid Certificate
- A current and valid National Police Clearance
- A manual Australian driver’s licence (C class)
- A current Forklift Licence, or willingness to obtain one
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, and sound skills in Word, Outlook and Excel
- The ability to lift up to 25 kilograms and to stand or move for periods each day
- A hospitality, chef or kitchen background

What’s on offer

This is a permanent role on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. The village is in town, close to shops and about five minutes from Kalgoorlie airport. You will have an on-site Admin Officer, Operations Officer and Head Chef, weekly support from an Operations Manager who visits sites, and training on standards, audits and administration. Forklift and HACCP training can be provided.
