About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Urban Planner to work with us in a full-time capacity.

This role will make a significant impact across the organisation by providing statutory and strategic planning advice, assessing complex planning proposals and delivering high-quality, timely and customer-focused planning outcomes in line with relevant legislation, Council policies and the Town's local planning framework.

This role will also give you the opportunity to apply and further develop your planning expertise across a broad and interesting range of matters, including complex development applications, planning policy and procedure improvements, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning considerations. You'll work closely with a small team, sharing your technical knowledge and using your professional judgement to achieve desired outcomes.

- Tertiary qualification in Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Town Planning, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and relevant experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and planning principles to achieve sound planning outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in the assessment of complex development applications.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality reports, recommendations and correspondence for management, Council, DAPS and SDAU.
- Demonstrated ability for building and maintaining effective working relationships. Demonstrated commitment to teamwork.
- Highly developed communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Solid analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
