The People and Safety Officer is responsible for the Town’s WHS systems to ensure compliance with legislation and effective risk management. Working within the People & Culture team, this full-time role promotes a proactive safety culture and supports HR operations across the Town, including the Aquatic Centre, parks, building & infrastructure maintenance, Claremont Museum and Bay View Community Centre. Key responsibilities of the position include:

- Support the ongoing review, rollout, and continuous improvement of the Town’s safety systems and procedures. Guide the development of safety assessments for all business units.
- Maintain safety registers and ensure adherence to WA safety and workers' compensation legislation.
- Administer WHS committee processes, including meetings, inspections, and action tracking.
- Process lodged hazards and workers' compensation and return-to-work processes.
- Assist the People and Culture team with HR processes as required.

The successful candidate will hold a Certificate IV in WHS (or equivalent) or bring a strong Human Resources background with a genuine desire to pivot into WHS. Applicants should demonstrate sound knowledge of safety legislation (or a proven ability to interpret regulatory frameworks),



strong workplace investigation skills gained in HR or safety environments, and experience coordinating compliance programs, backed by excellent communication and organisational skills. Local government experience is desirable but not essential.
