The Royal Oak Penola, better known as ROAK , is looking for an experienced and hands-on Restaurant Manager to join our team.

n

This position is ideal for a hospitality leader who enjoys being on the floor, supporting their team and creating memorable guest experiences. The role will commence on a casual basis, with the opportunity to progress into full-time employment for the right person.

Located on the main street of Penola in the heart of the Coonawarra wine region, ROAK is a historic country pub known for its warm hospitality, award-winning dining and relaxed atmosphere.

Our seasonal menus showcase quality local produce, complemented by a solid selection of Coonawarra and South Australian wines. With a welcoming bistro, beer garden, accommodation and a strong connection to the local community, ROAK offers an authentic regional hospitality experience.

The Role n

Working closely with the Venue Manager, you will oversee restaurant operations and ensure every service runs smoothly.

Your responsibilities will include:

n

n
- Leading restaurant service and delivering consistently high standards of hospitality;
n
- Supervising, supporting and training front-of-house employees;
n
- Creating a welcoming and positive experience for every guest;
n
- Coordinating reservations, table allocations and daily service requirements;
n
- Responding to customer feedback and resolving concerns professionally;
n
- Maintaining presentation, cleanliness and service standards throughout the venue;
n
- Assisting with stock control, ordering and minimising wastage;
n
- Supporting functions, events and busy trade periods;
n




- Ensuring compliance with responsible service, food safety and workplace safety requirements; and
n
- Working collaboratively with the kitchen and wider venue team.

About You n

To succeed in this role, you will have:

n

n
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager, Supervisor or senior hospitality team member;
n
- Strong leadership and communication skills;
n
- A genuine passion for hospitality, food and customer service;
n
- The confidence to lead a team during busy service periods;
n
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and time-management skills;
n
- A current RSA certificate;
n
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays; and
n
- A positive, practical and hands-on approach.
n

Gaming experience and current gaming qualifications would be a welcome bonus; however, they are not essential for this role.
