We are seeking an experienced QHSE Assurance Manager to lead the governance, assurance and continual improvement of our national Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental systems on a part-time basis.

This is a hands‑on national role spanning manufacturing, offices, project delivery, logistics and installation. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will have the autonomy to strengthen our QHSE framework, maintain certification readiness and provide clear, evidence-based assurance to senior management.

The role is approximately 24 hours per week, with some flexibility around how the hours and days are structured.

The opportunity

Signcraft is a national signage business specialising in the design, manufacture and delivery of signage and wayfinding solutions across commercial, construction, infrastructure, retail and government projects.

Our operations include multiple facilities, subcontractors, installation environments and customer compliance requirements.

You will have the authority and autonomy to strengthen our QHSE framework, simplify systems and ensure material risks, audit findings and non‑conformances are effectively addressed. The role will suit someone who can operate strategically while remaining visible, practical and engaged with frontline teams.

This is an assurance and systems leadership position working through operational leaders rather than a direct QHSE team. Operational managers remain accountable for safety, quality and environmental performance within their areas.

Key responsibilities

Maintain and continually improve Signcraft's integrated QHSE management systems.

Coordinate ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification, surveillance and recertification readiness.

Develop and deliver a risk‑based national audit and workplace inspection program, including coordination of external certification, customer and regulatory audits.

Maintain QHSE policies, procedures, registers, controlled documents and compliance obligations.

Lead quality assurance across design, procurement, manufacturing, dispatch and installation.





Govern hazards, incidents, injuries, customer complaints, non‑conformances and corrective actions, including incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and effectiveness reviews.

Monitor physical and psychosocial hazards and support effective worker consultation.

Review Safety Management Plans, SWMS, risk assessments and critical controls.

Oversee contractor and supplier compliance, including prequalification, inductions, competencies, licences, insurance and corrective actions.

Maintain appropriate environmental controls covering chemicals, SDS, waste, spills, emissions, noise and resource use.

Prepare monthly QHSE dashboards, trend analysis and executive assurance reporting.

Deliver practical QHSE training, toolbox resources and coaching, and support QHSE requirements for tenders, customer submissions and project mobilisation.

Escalate serious risks, repeat failures and overdue high‑risk actions to senior management.

The position has authority to stop or suspend work where there is an immediate or serious safety risk, or where a critical quality, environmental or compliance requirement has not been met.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

A relevant qualification in work health and safety, quality, engineering, environmental management or a related discipline.

At least five years' experience in QHSE/HSEQ, safety assurance, quality systems or a related role.

Experience within a multi‑site manufacturing, construction, installation or project‑delivery environment.

Solid practical knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 management systems.





A recognised internal auditor qualification and demonstrated audit experience.

Sound knowledge of Australian WHS requirements, consultation, contractor management and incident management.

Strong investigation, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action capability.

The confidence to constructively challenge, elevate material risks and influence operational and senior leaders.

Strong written communication, reporting and document‑control skills.

A current driver's licence and the capacity to undertake interstate and project‑site travel as required.

Highly regarded

Experience in signage, fabrication, printing, electrical work, logistics or subcontracted installation would be advantageous.

Lead Auditor qualifications, ISO 14001 experience, formal investigation training such as ICAM, a construction induction card, and experience with Epicor Kinetic, Smartsheet or contractor compliance platforms will also be highly regarded.
