We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Practitioner/Psychotherapist to join our team in Sydney, New South Wales. This permanent, full-time role is crucial in providing high-quality mental health support and behaviour management strategies to individuals in need. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the wellbeing of clients, ensuring they receive tailored interventions that promote positive behavioural change and emotional resilience.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' behavioural and emotional needs.
- Develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including counselling and psychotherapy, to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of behaviour support strategies, making adjustments as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals and educators, to ensure holistic support for clients.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with organisational policies and legal requirements.
- Provide training and support to families and caregivers on behaviour management techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest research and best practices in behaviour support and psychotherapy.
Qualifications:
- A relevant degree in psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualifications in psychotherapy or behaviour support are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferable within the health and safety sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of behaviour management strategies and therapeutic techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Proficiency in assessment and evaluation methods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current registration with a relevant qualified body (e.g., AHPRA, PACFA) is preferred.
