The Opportunity

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Plumbing and Infrastructure Inspector to join our Water Planning and Assets team.

This role is responsible for inspecting private plumbing and drainage, and developer-provided water supply and sewerage infrastructure, to ensure work complies with Council requirements, legislation, industry standards and the Plumbing Code of Australia.

You will work closely with contractors, consultants and internal teams to support the delivery of compliant, high-quality infrastructure across the MidCoast region.

In this role, you will:

- Undertake delegated regulatory functions under the NSW Plumbing and Drainage Act 2011.
- Inspect domestic and commercial plumbing and drainage works to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, codes and standards.
- Inspect developer-provided water supply and sewerage infrastructure to ensure it meets Council requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to contractors and consultants on plumbing, drainage, water and sewerage infrastructure.
- Provide advice to Development Services and other internal teams on hydraulic and infrastructure designs.
- Prepare documentation, correspondence and reports relating to plumbing, drainage, water and sewerage matters.
- Monitor changes to industry standards, codes and regulations and maintain effective professional networks.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council's development-related standards, procedures and processes.
- Build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support positive outcomes.
- Apply sound professional judgement, integrity and a strong customer focus in your work.

What you'll bring

- A minimum Certificate-level qualification in Plumbing and Services, Water Operations or a related field.
- A current Plumbing and Drainage licence or equivalent qualifications.
- Relevant experience installing and/or inspecting domestic and commercial plumbing and drainage work.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Working knowledge of the water and wastewater regulatory workplace, including trade waste policies, procedures and systems.
- Knowledge of water and sewerage infrastructure,



construction techniques, materials, codes and standards.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic design and water and sewerage system design.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with contractors, consultants, customers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A commitment to Council's values, policies, procedures and work health and safety requirements.
- A current Class C Driver Licence.

Salary: Commencing salary circa $77,740 - $93,200p.a. plus superannuation (dependent on skills and experience).

A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.

Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
