Job Description
n
Arvato Supply Chain Solutions is the global supply-chain and e-commerce fulfilment division of Bertelsmann, operating distribution and value-added-services centres across five continents. Its Australian operation runs a multi-client distribution centre at Villawood in the Greater Sydney region, providing warehousing, order picking, direct-to-consumer and direct-to-retailer distribution, customs and trade-compliance processing, and a range of value-added services to global B2B and B2C clients across sectors such as consumer electronics, fashion, beauty, lifestyle and healthcare. The site operates to a high (TAPA-A) security standard and relies on a diverse, multinational warehouse, and support workforce that scales with client demand and seasonal peaks.
About the role n
We are looking for a Human Resources Advisor to deliver the full people-support and personnel-administration service for the Villawood distribution centre and its workforce of warehouse and support staff. Operating as a standalone, hands-on generalist, the role puts the global group's people policies and programs into practice on the ground in Australia. It reports directly to the Australian Managing Director for day-to-day delivery and site priorities, and on a functional (dotted-line) basis to the APAC HR Director in Singapore, who sets the regional HR framework, systems and standards the Australian operation works within as part of Arvato's global business.
Key responsibilities n
Run recruitment end to end for the site's warehouse and support roles — writing and placing job advertising across SEEK, Indeed and Arvato's careers channels, briefing labour-hire partners for pick-pack and forklift crews, and then screening, shortlisting and interviewing applicants before putting selection recommendations to the relevant hiring manager.
n
Keep the site's employee data accurate and confidential — holding personnel records, contracts, leave and payroll-input files,
and training and licensing registers current within Arvato's HR information systems, and pushing new-starter, transfer and exit updates through cleanly for payroll, audit and reporting.
n
Be the first port of call for supervisors and shift managers on everyday people questions — talking them through Arvato's workplace-relations policies and the site's HR procedures, guiding them on performance, attendance and conduct or disciplinary steps, and escalating complex or higher-risk matters to the APAC HR Director.
n
Coordinate onboarding and induction for new starters joining the floor — booking site and WHS inductions, issuing and explaining employment contracts, salary and roster conditions, taking people through their entitlements, and pointing them to training pathways and the internal-movement and promotion opportunities that open up as the site grows.
n
Take in and document new hiring requests from the site's operational departments — sitting with Operations, Inbound, Outbound, and people leaders to capture each role's job description, pay band and employment conditions, and logging the approved requisition so recruitment starts against a clear, agreed brief.
n
Keep live openings in front of the right people — posting current vacancies to Arvato's external job boards and internal noticeboards, responding to candidate and job-seeker enquiries, and keeping hiring managers across pipeline and applicant status for each open role.
n
Help resolve issues on the floor before they grow — supporting managers through employee grievances,
complaints and conduct matters, gathering the facts, and joining discussions with employees, labour-hire providers and, where relevant, employee representatives about pay, rostering and other terms and conditions, while referring formal negotiations and higher-risk disputes to the APAC HR Director.
n
Keep the site aligned with its employment obligations — working across the up-to-date awards, enterprise arrangements and employment contracts covering the warehouse and workforce, checking pay and classification treatment against Fair Work and NSW legislation, and giving managers plain-English guidance on how award terms and dispute-resolution steps apply in practice.
n
Contribute to the site's people frameworks — helping draft and roll out workplace-relations policies, HR programs and the procedures that sit behind them, and supporting the APAC HR Director and Managing Director on the practical detail of any enterprise agreement or productivity- and wage-adjustment arrangement that applies at Villawood, including how each change lands and is put into practice on the floor.
n
Coordinate the site's employee-voice channels — helping stand up and run the site's consultative and WHS committees, organising toolbox talks, consultation sessions and employee-participation and engagement activities, and making sure feedback and outcomes travel back to both employees and site leadership.
About you n
At least bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline + 1 year of relevant experience OR at least 5 years of relevant experience
n
Solid understanding of Australian employment law, payroll compliance, and HR best practices
n
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
n
Proficiency in payroll platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite
