Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Coordinator Infrastructure Assets to lead the management, planning and continuous improvement of our infrastructure assets.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified engineering professional to provide strategic asset management leadership across a diverse infrastructure portfolio. You will play a key role in developing maintenance and renewal strategies, managing asset condition information, identifying future capital projects and providing technical guidance that supports sustainable, long-term infrastructure outcomes for the community.

Leading a small team of 4 people, you will contribute to Council's asset management while ensuring infrastructure investment decisions are informed by data, risk and service levels.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervise, mentor and develop team members, ensuring a high level of performance and continuous improvement
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of infrastructure asset maintenance and renewal strategies
- Coordinate and manage asset inspections, condition assessments and data collection across Council’s infrastructure network including roads, stormwater systems, bridges, footpaths, and third-party assets (including grids, gates and similar infrastructure)
- Ensure asset data is accurately captured, maintained and utilised within Council’s asset management systems and GIS platforms
- Identify and prioritise future infrastructure projects based on asset condition, risk, service levels and whole-of-life considerations
- Provide technical advice and recommendations on asset condition, maintenance requirements and renewal priorities, including validation of candidate projects for resealing and resheeting programs




- Assist with the development and maintenance of forward works programs to inform Council’s capital works planning and budgeting processes
- Liaise with the Design and Delivery teams to transition identified projects through investigation, design and delivery phases
- Identify and assess potential water and gravel sources, and coordinate the investigation, approvals and ongoing compliance requirements associated with extraction permits and/or environmental authorities to support Council’s works programs
- Contribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relations
- Liaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties, including providing and obtaining information
- Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position, e.g. timesheets
- Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices, as required
- Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training.

Qualifications

Compulsory

- Queensland ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence (minimum requirement - provisional licence)
- QLD General Safety Induction – White or Blue Card
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and significant professional post graduate experience.

Desirable

- Registered Engineer of Qld (RPEQ).

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge Required





- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure asset management, maintenance planning and/or civil construction
- Strong understanding of road, drainage and civil infrastructure systems and associated maintenance practices
- Experience in condition assessment, defect identification and risk-based prioritisation of works
- Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a small team, including setting priorities and managing workloads
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in the use of asset management systems, GIS and Microsoft Office applications
- Sound knowledge of relevant standards, guidelines and legislative requirements
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to Workplace Health and Safety and continuous improvement principles
- Good literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment under minimal supervision
- Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices.
