Their

Procurement and Contracts function partners closely with operational and project stakeholders to deliver commercial outcomes, manage risk and maximise value across a broad portfolio of services and contractor arrangements. Due to increased demand within their contracts and commercial team, they are seeking an experienced Principal Contracts Specialist to join their Brisbane-based team on a contract through to February 2027.

Your new role

As a Principal Contracts Specialist, you will provide expert commercial and contractual leadership across complex service and operational contracts. Working closely with key stakeholders, you will be responsible for developing contract strategies, leading tender activities, negotiating commercial outcomes and supporting contract performance across a diverse portfolio.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the business, providing guidance on contract risk, contractor performance, commercial negotiations and ongoing contract management activities.

Your responsibilities will include

- Developing and implementing contract strategies aligned to business and operational requirements
- Leading end-to-end tendering activities,



including sourcing strategy, evaluation, negotiation and contract award
- Providing commercial and contractual advice to stakeholders across complex and high-value contracts
- Managing contractor performance, risk and compliance throughout the contract lifecycle
- Supporting contract administration, variations, claims management and dispute resolution activities
- Identifying opportunities to optimise value, reduce risk and improve commercial outcomes
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders and suppliers to drive successful contract execution and performance
- Applying risk management principles and supporting the delivery of safe, sustainable and commercially sound outcomes

What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring strong contracts, commercial or procurement experience within a complex operational, project or asset-intensive environment.

You will also demonstrate

- Experience managing complex contracts from strategy and formation through to execution and close-out
- Strong capability in contract negotiation, commercial risk management and stakeholder engagement
- Experience leading tendering and sourcing activities across services,



projects or operational contracts
- Knowledge of contractor performance management and contract governance frameworks
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk, value and operational outcomes
- The ability to influence and engage a broad range of stakeholders across varying levels of the organisation
- Previous experience within mining, resources, energy, infrastructure or similarly complex industries will be highly regarded
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
