Council is seeking a motivated and experienced Principal Coordinator Infrastructure Design to join our Infrastructure Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified Civil Engineer to play a key role in the planning, design, management and delivery of Council's infrastructure projects while providing technical leadership and engineering expertise across the organisation.

Working within a collaborative team environment, you will contribute to the sustainable development, maintenance and improvement of Council's roads, bridges, drainage and other public infrastructure assets.

About the Role

As the Principal Coordinator Infrastructure Design, you will provide professional engineering advice and technical support relating to infrastructure planning, design and construction. You will manage projects from concept through to completion, oversee consultants and contractors, and support the ongoing development of Council's Assets and Technical Services team.

Key responsibilities include:

- Provide technical advice and engineering support to internal and external stakeholders on operational works, development standards, design requirements and infrastructure projects, including the preparation of construction plans, engineering calculations, cost estimates, specifications and technical documentation.
- Investigate, assess and report on issues relating to the repair, maintenance and construction of Council's infrastructure assets.
- Undertake specialist technical assessments and designs, including Heavy Vehicle Route Assessments, Level 2 bridge inspections, Road Safety Audits and traffic management design.
- Supervise, train and mentor Technical Services team members.
- Manage infrastructure projects and technical consultants to achieve agreed scope, budget,



quality and program outcomes.
- Prepare, submit and administer infrastructure funding applications and associated reporting requirements.
- Develop, implement and continuously improve work practices, procedures, policies and management systems.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Technical Services budget.
- Represent Council at government, industry, community and stakeholder meetings and forums.
- Perform all duties in accordance with relevant legislation, technical standards, and Council's quality, safety, environmental and operational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the promotion of the image of the Council and the maximisation of good public relations
- Liaise with clients, other Council staff, the public, consultants, utility and government authorities in the performance of duties including providing and obtaining information
- Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position eg. timesheets
- Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices as required
- Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required
- Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training.

About You To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Compulsory

- Queensland ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence
- QLD General Safety Induction – White or Blue Card




- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.

Desirable

- Registered Engineer of Qld (RPEQ).

Abilities, Skills and Knowledge

- Demonstrated experience in engineering, in particular infrastructure planning/design, project management, asset management, and surveying
- High level of keyboard and computer skills including engineering, survey and design software, GIS and the MS Office Suite of programs
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a team in an environment of change, establish work priorities and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of Council Departments, policies and procedures and relevant legislative requirements
- Good literacy, numeracy and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team workplace
- Sound understanding of and commitment to EEO and WHS principles and practices
