Primary objective

Provide operational coordination, educational support, and group facilitation to enhance prisoner access to education, higher learning, and personal development opportunities. Liaise with education providers and custodial staff to ensure effective delivery of higher education learning and library services across correctional centres.

Context statement The position is based at The Darwin Correctional Centre. It is responsible for the facilitation of the Prisoner In-cell Learning System (PILS), including

Learning Management System (LMS) and Prisoner Information Channels for the delivery of education,



training, and personal development material.

Key responsibilities

1. Establish, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with government agencies and non-government organisations to ensure a

comprehensive range of service delivery.
1. Engage, consult, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to inform culturally appropriate material for delivery on the PILS, including

for accredited/ non-accredited education and training.
1. Coordinate and support the ongoing maintenance of the PILS and work collaboratively to resolve problems to ensure the ongoing functionality

of the PILS.
1. Format and upload content into the PILS, including the Learning Management System and the Prisoner Information Channel.
2. Develop policies and procedures for the PILS which provide advice and guidance to NT Correctional Services staff and prisoners on the

appropriate use of the system.
1. Monitor and report regularly to the Senior Leadership Group as required on service delivery and operational challenges.
2. Manage the collection and reporting of statistical data on service delivery on PILS and the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS).

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Proven ability to develop and maintain solid professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and possess sound





interpersonal and communication skills including problem solving and conflict resolution.
1. Experience working with diverse cultures, and individuals and groups with complex social needs, particularly Aboriginal people from the

Northern Territory.
1. High level organisational and time management skills with an ability to deliver within tight timeframes with attention to detail and accuracy.
2. Understanding of the standards and specifications for web-based e-learning software packages, and shareable learning content.
3. Demonstrated capacity to work with limited supervision and to confidently use sound judgement in decision making.
4. Ability to prepare and maintain electronic records with high level attention to detail.
5. A demonstrated working knowledge of procurement and legislation within a government framework.

Desirable

1. Knowledge and understanding of governmental and departmental processes with a sound knowledge of NT Correctional Services.
2. Formal qualifications in Training and Assessment or an associated field.
