The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a critical participant in the administration of justice within Western Australia, providing an independent and effective criminal prosecution service and confiscation practice. The ODPP is seeking an experienced Operational Finance Lead to provide team leadership across core financial processes, leveraging systems and process improvements to strengthen controls, efficiency and service delivery.

The role oversees a broad range of responsibilities within the Financial Services workplan and flexes across priorities during peak processing periods, including providing operational procurement support. Working collaboratively across the ODPP and with financial services and broader directorate stakeholders, the role provides high quality operational support, processing and governance considerations that inform organisational priorities and strengthen financial services processes.

To be successful in this role, applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to:

- Lead core financial operations: Supervise and support a small team delivering accurate and timely accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, card administration, asset recording and other transactional finance activities.
- Provide flexible financial services support: Work across finance functions to respond to workload surges, meet critical processing and reporting deadlines, and assist with procurement activities, including contract planning and administration.
- Strengthen financial governance: Maintain robust financial controls and ensure processing complies with the Financial Management Act 2006, Treasurer’s Instructions, Australian Accounting Standards and relevant ODPP policies and procedures.
- Foster collaboration and stakeholder engagement: Leverage your proven ability to build effective collaboration and engage clearly with stakeholders across the ODPP and broader directorate.
- Drive business partnering and improvement: Build effective relationships with stakeholders,



provide practical financial and procurement advice, and contribute to policy, procedure, process and system enhancements that improve efficiency, compliance and service delivery.

Whilst there is one immediate position available, suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool. This pool will run for a period of twelve months and may be used to fill other similar permanent and fixed‑term full‑time and part‑time vacancies if they arise and subject to business needs. Suitable applicants may be considered for other similar vacancies arising during the twelve months following the completion of the recruitment and selection process subject to business needs.

When considering whether the ODPP is right for you, it is important to consider the nature of the agency’s functions. The ODPP deals with serious criminal offences, including homicide offences involving members of the WA Community. In the course of your duties, you will encounter materials including, however not limited to, photographs, videos, written statements, and oral evidence. You will have direct engagement with members of the WA Community associated with these charges. This material may be confronting and emotionally distressing. The ODPP is committed to reducing exposure to staff wherever possible by offering educational programs and supportive resources through the ODPP’s Mental Health and Wellness program.
