About the opportunity

Based in Perth’s northern metropolitan area, Altrad are seeking an experienced Project Commercial Manager to provide commercial leadership across the delivery of a major SMP construction project at the Alkimos Desalination Plant – WA’s next major water source.

Reporting to the Project Manager and embedded within the project leadership team, this is a hands-on, site-based role with responsibility for the commercial and contractual performance of the project throughout construction.

Working closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, engineering, project controls and site delivery teams, you will provide commercial oversight across the head contract, subcontractors and suppliers while maintaining strong controls around variations, claims, forecasting, cash flow and contractual risk.

This role requires an experienced construction commercial professional who can operate effectively at both a strategic and operational level – protecting Altrad’s commercial position while remaining closely connected to the realities of project delivery.

In this role you will:

- Lead the commercial and contractual management of the project, supporting the Project Manager and broader project leadership team.
- Administer the head contract and oversee subcontract and supplier agreements throughout project delivery.
- Identify and manage contractual obligations, commercial risks, key dates, time bars and notice requirements.
- Lead the preparation, negotiation and administration of variations, extensions of time, delay and disruption claims, acceleration costs and other contractual entitlements.
- Ensure contractual notices, claims and correspondence are accurate, appropriately supported and issued within required timeframes.
- Oversee subcontractor and supplier progress claims, including completed works, supporting records, back charges, retentions and disputed amounts.
- Monitor project costs, commitments,



forecast final cost, margin, cash flow and cost-to-complete, identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
- Provide clear commercial reporting and advice to the Project Manager and project leadership team on forecast movements, exposures and required actions.
- Support monthly project reporting, financial reviews, forecasting and internal governance requirements.
- Work closely with Finance on invoicing, accruals, receipts, reconciliations and project cash flow.
- Provide commercial guidance to project personnel, ensuring contractual responsibilities and commercial controls are understood across the delivery team.
- Lead, support and provide direction to project Quantity Surveyors, Contracts Administrators and relevant commercial support personnel.
- Maintain project commercial documentation, registers and records in accordance with contractual and Altrad governance requirements.

About you You will be an experienced Commercial or Contracts Manager with a strong background supporting the delivery of complex construction projects. You will be comfortable operating directly alongside project and construction teams and bring the commercial judgement required to balance contractual protection with practical project delivery.

To be successful, you will have:

- 10+ years’ commercial or contract management experience within construction, resources or a related project environment.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience administering head contracts, subcontracts and supplier agreements on major construction projects.
- Strong experience managing variations, progress claims, extensions of time, delay and disruption claims and final accounts.
- Sound commercial capability across project cost control, forecasting, cash flow, margin and cost-to-complete.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, contractual risk, notices and time-bar requirements.
- Experience working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers, engineers and project controls teams in a site-based delivery environment.
- Solid negotiation, written communication and stakeholder management skills.




- A disciplined approach to commercial governance, record keeping and contractual documentation.
- The ability to provide practical commercial advice while maintaining appropriate contractual and financial controls.
