Project Engineer – Commercial Construction

Next Executive is partnering with a leading commercial construction business to appoint an experienced Project Engineer to join its Perth team.

This is a key project delivery position, working closely with the Project Manager and Site Manager to drive the successful delivery of commercial construction projects across safety, programme, cost and quality. The Project Engineer effectively operates as the “Project Manager of delivery”, taking ownership of procurement, subcontractor coordination, design management and day-to-day project delivery.

The Role

You will take a hands-on role across the full construction lifecycle, with responsibilities including:

- Managing subcontractor and supplier procurement, scopes, tender reviews and package letting
- Coordinating subcontractors and suppliers to achieve programme, quality and safety requirements
- Working closely with the Project Manager and Site Manager to drive construction activities and key milestones
- Managing design coordination, RFIs, documentation and constructability issues
- Developing and maintaining project programmes, procurement schedules and short-term look-aheads




- Monitoring subcontractor performance and ensuring adequate resources are available to meet programme
- Managing QA requirements including ITPs, workshop drawings, inspections and documentation
- Coordinating commissioning, defects, handover and completion requirements
- Assisting with project cost control, forecasting, variations, EOTs and claims
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams.

About You You will ideally come from a commercial construction background with experience working for a recognised head contractor in a Project Engineer or similar project delivery position.

You will bring solid technical and construction knowledge, with the ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors while maintaining a clear focus on programme, quality and commercial outcomes. Experience across design management, procurement, programming, RFIs, QA and project documentation will be highly regarded.

You will be a confident communicator who enjoys working collaboratively with Site Managers, Project Managers, Contract Administrators, consultants and subcontractors.
