At Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG), we operate one of Australia's largest coal export terminals, connecting the Hunter Valley supply chain to global markets through critical rail, stockyard and ship loading infrastructure.

We're looking for an experienced Project Portfolio Manager to lead a significant portfolio of infrastructure, capital and operational projects that will shape the future capability, performance and sustainability of our business.

This is an opportunity to influence investment decisions, steer major projects from concept to completion and provide leadership across some of the most important infrastructure initiatives in our organisation.

This is more than project delivery

We're not looking for someone to personally manage every project.

We're looking for a leader who can see the bigger picture, align priorities, guide investment decisions and help teams deliver outcomes that matter.

As a senior leader within our Assets & Infrastructure team, you'll provide strategic oversight across a diverse project portfolio, partnering with Project Managers, operational leaders and senior stakeholders to ensure projects deliver lasting value for the business.

You'll balance strategy with execution, governance with pragmatism, and technical detail with commercial outcomes.

Most importantly, you'll help ensure every project contributes to NCIG's long-term success.

What you'll be accountable for

- Leading a portfolio of capital and operational projects aligned to NCIG's strategic objectives
- Providing leadership, governance and oversight across multiple concurrent projects




- Supporting and developing Project Managers to deliver protected, successful project outcomes
- Guiding investment decisions, project prioritisation and long-term capital planning
- Managing portfolio risks, interdependencies and opportunities to optimise business value
- Delivering clear, concise reporting and recommendations to senior leaders and steering committees
- Partnering with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams to ensure projects are integrated, practical and fit for purpose
- Driving consistency, capability and continuous improvement across project delivery and governance practices

About you

You've likely led programs, portfolios or major projects within infrastructure, industrial, resources, energy, manufacturing or other complex operational environments.

You enjoy operating where strategy, governance, leadership and delivery intersect.

You're comfortable challenging assumptions, influencing senior stakeholders and helping teams navigate complex decisions.

You know how to take a large volume of project information and translate it into meaningful insights, clear recommendations and actionable decisions.

Most importantly, you understand that project success isn't measured solely by time, cost and scope.

To be successful, you'll bring:

- Significant experience leading complex project teams and portfolios
- Demonstrated success overseeing multiple concurrent projects within an operational environment
- Strong commercial, financial and strategic planning capability
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills
- Experience presenting to governance forums, steering committees and senior leadership teams
- The ability to connect business objectives with project outcomes
