An opportunity exists for an experienced and client focused Psychologist - Senior to join the multidisciplinary Perinatal Loss Service at Townsville University Hospital, in tropical North Queensland.

This is a temporary part-time role, commencing 23/11/2026 - 11/02/2027 (60.8 hr/pf).

About the opportunity

You are invited to experience this exciting opportunity as part of a significant expansion of maternal services at Northern Australia's largest tertiary hospital. The Townsville University Hospital provides perinatal services, including expert clinical support and management, saving families from expensive and disruptive travel to south-east Queensland.

The psychologist – senior (perinatal) is a valued member of the Perinatal Loss Service multidisciplinary team, which delivers a comprehensive range of screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to families across Northern Queensland. You will provide bereavement care, in addition to psychological assessment and intervention to patients regarding women's reproductive health concerns and decisions about termination of pregnancy. Women and families will be able to access world-class care, closer to home, with the support of medical, sonography, midwifery, health worker and allied health specialist staff.

This perinatal loss service is the only one outside south-east Queensland offering a comprehensive range of screening, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to women and families across both private and public healthcare sectors.

Role requirements

- Applicants must possess an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four-year qualification in Psychology, and be registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Psychology Board of Australia (PsychBA).
- While not mandatory, a PsychBA Area of Practice Endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology would be highly regarded, as would PsychBA approved Supervisor status.
- Drivers Licence: This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.

- Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 p.h. (HP4)
- 4 weeks annual (pro rata) leave with 17.5% loading
