About the role

You are a developer first. Most days are production Python. You own two services in the location product. One estimates where a person or asset is. The other prepares the site model that estimate runs on.

The work is numerical Python: arrays, geometry and algorithms, shipped as services with tests. When a site says a location looks wrong, you find out why and change the code. On top of the code, you run delivery for the engineering team.

That team is about 15 people across mobile, backend, firmware, cloud, QA (quality assurance) and hardware. Every 3 weeks you run the sprint ceremonies: planning, review and retrospective. Every other day you keep Jira (our issue tracker) matching what people are actually doing, raise blockers early, chase missing decisions, and make sure the commitment made at planning still fits.

Key responsibilities

- Own the two location services: fixes, improvements and production support
- Diagnose location issues from site feedback
- Change the estimation logic when field data shows it is wrong
- Extend how site models are imported and cleaned up
- Keep the services, containers and automated tests in good shape
- Explain location behaviour to the engineers who consume it (mobile, backend, firmware) in plain language
- Keep Jira priorities, statuses and the sprint board accurate
- Find blockers early and get them removed, including decisions and missing information
- Coordinate dependencies across mobile, backend, firmware,



cloud and hardware
- Run sprint planning, the sprint review and the retrospective every 3 weeks

About you

- Based in Perth. Remote applicants will not be considered.
- Strong Python in production services, not only scripts or notebooks
- Solid numerical Python: NumPy and SciPy, and comfort reading algorithm code (filtering, graphs, geometry, or similar)
- A habit of testing the code you change (pytest or equivalent)
- Willingness to run a 3-week delivery cycle: planning, review, retrospective, and daily follow-through on the board
- Working knowledge of Jira and a normal software workflow (branches, pull requests, CI)
- Enough technical depth to talk with firmware, mobile and backend engineers about dependencies
- Organised, direct, and willing to challenge a vague priority or a ticket that has sat in progress for too long

About us GeoMoby builds location intelligence and connected workforce systems for mining and resources. The product spans software, mobile apps, cloud services, Bluetooth, gateways and hardware. Part of the underground location product is a small set of Python services. The company is selling into more sites and more countries, and this role owns both that Python code and the delivery rhythm around it. You will work directly with the engineering leads and with the founder.
