Key Responsibilities:

Support the recruitment, induction and training of new Puppy Development Volunteers including raisers and boarders.

- Provide development, training and support to Puppy Development Volunteers including group and one on one training opportunities to produce pups ready for formal intake.

Support pups on program to progress through key developmental milestones, with temperament and behavioural concerns identified, assessed, documented and escalated in accordance with organisational and industry protocols.



Assess and coordinate appropriate placement options for pups, including new intake, raising and boarding placements, to ensure each pup’s individual development, socialisation and welfare needs are effectively supported.

Monitor and support the welfare and veterinary care needs of GDTAS stock on caseload ensuring timely action and compliance with organisational and industry standards.

Collaborate with F and M team to support key events and sponsor updates/visits.

Support breeding and early neonatal development activities for pups, including providing guidance to breeding volunteers to promote pup and breeding stock health, welfare and appropriate development.

Collaborate with the Dog Services team to support the transition of dogs into formal training by providing relevant temperament and behavioural information.

Support the effective day-to-day operations of Dog Services by working collaboratively across programs and providing operational assistance as required.

Skills and Experiences:

Essential Skills:

Sound knowledge in dog development, behaviour, handling and training aligned with organisational standards and practice

Experience working with volunteers and an ability to show empathy when interacting with volunteers

- Ability to work well within a team, as well as independently, assuming responsibility for nominated tasks
- Effective communication and planning skills including in difficult situations

Demonstrated ability to analyse problems,



make sound decisions and respond quickly and calmly in stressful or changing situations. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in use of Microsoft Office programs

Desirable Skills:

Experience in breeding and raising pups

- Knowledge/experience in Veterinary nursing
- Up-to-date knowledge of Guide and Assistance Dog Training theory and practices
- Awareness of the personal impact of disability and loss of vision for an individual
- Broad base of experience in one or more IGDF or ADI accredited organisations
- Recognised certificate in dog development and training

NDIS Worker Screening Check
