About the Role
The Senior Social Media & Content Specialist is responsible for the organic social media strategy, content and community management across Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks and UD Trucks.
Working within the Shared Services Marketing structure, the role develops and delivers platform-first content across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube to build brand engagement and support marketing and commercial objectives.
The role works closely with Brand Managers, internal stakeholders, dealerships and external creative partners to identify and maximise content opportunities, ensuring Volvo Group Australia's social channels deliver relevant, timely and high-quality brand experiences for customers and industry audiences.
Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Channel Management
- Develop and execute organic social media strategies across Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks and UD Trucks.
- Develop and maintain social media content calendars aligned with brand campaigns, product launches, sponsorships, events and business priorities.
- Manage organic social channels across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, ensuring platform-appropriate content and brand consistency.
- Monitor platform trends, audience behaviour and emerging opportunities to optimise channel performance.
Content Planning, Creation & Production
- Plan, coordinate, create and publish platform-first organic social media content.
- Develop social-first content concepts and briefs for photography, short-form video, reels, stories and copywriting, ensuring content is optimised for each platform and aligned with brand objectives.
- Adapt and repurpose brand campaign assets, professional photography and videography supplied by the Brand teams and dealer network into engaging social media content.
- Collaborate with Brand Managers, dealerships and external creative partners to identify and deliver social content opportunities arising from larger brand campaigns, customer stories, events and activations.
Community Management & Partnerships
- Manage and develop organic social media communities, engaging with customers, drivers, dealers and industry audiences in a timely and brand-aligned manner.
- Respond to community questions, feedback and issues, collaborating with internal subject matter experts where required.
- Coordinate influencer, creator and sponsorship content opportunities aligned with brand objectives.
Retail Social Media Governance
- Collaborate with the Retail Marketing Manager to establish content priorities and publishing schedules, ensuring OEM announcements, launches and priority brand content are published through OEM channels before retail amplification.
- Provide social media expertise and guidance to support effective retail channel content and platform optimisation.
Social Media Advisory & Optimisation
- Partner with Brand Managers, the Retail Marketing Manager and paid media agency to ensure alignment between paid and organic social activity.
- Provide recommendations on opportunities to amplify high-performing organic content.
- Contribute social media expertise across the VGA network, supporting effective use of professional profiles, social channels and platform best practice.
Stakeholder & Governance
- Collaborate with Brand Managers, dealerships, Retail Marketing and external creative partners to maximise content opportunities and ensure consistent brand execution.
- Ensure social media activity complies with Volvo Group brand guidelines, governance and legal requirements.
Who we're seeking
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in social media management, digital marketing or content creation.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing organic social media strategies for established brands.
- Experience managing social media channels within a complex, multi-brand or national marketing environment.
- Strong understanding of LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and how content should be adapted for each platform.
- Demonstrated experience developing and optimising platform-first content, particularly short-form video, reels and social storytelling.
- Practical experience with photography, videography and video editing for social media.
- Solid copywriting and content development skills, with the ability to adapt tone and messaging across different brands and audiences.
- Experience using social media scheduling, analytics and reporting platforms to monitor and optimise performance.
- Strong stakeholder management, planning and project coordination skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of organic and paid social media principles and the ability to provide informed platform and content recommendations.
- Strong understanding of brand governance and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder and brand requirements
- Experience in automotive, transport, heavy vehicle, industrial or B2B marketing, desirable.
