Metro Mining Limited (ASX:MMI) is an Australian exploration and mining company based in Brisbane. Metro’s flagship project, the Bauxite Hills Mine, located 95km north of Weipa is one of the largest independent projects within the internationally acclaimed Weipa Bauxite Region.

As a Refrigeration Mechanic, you will provide preventative and reactive maintenance on air-conditioning units, compressors, and other equipment. This will include installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing refrigeration equipment to ensure optimal performance and operational efficiency.

The role is a 15/13 roster, dayshift only.

Key Responsibilities

- Reactive and preventative maintenance on all substations, air conditioning and compressor units.
- Undertake regular maintenance and installations on air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment in the village and mine site.
- Fault Finding and refurbishment works.
- Compressor changeouts.
- Install, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems in mine, camp, and marine environments.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration systems to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently.
- Perform repairs and replacements of components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, and controls.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols while working in hazardous mining environments.




- Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and optimise system performance.
- Document maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and equipment performance.

Essential Requirements

- Refrigeration Mechanic trade qualification
- BSA Contractor Licence - Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Mechanical Services
- Refrigerant Handling License (RAC)
- Restricted Electrical Licence.
- Valid Australian HR Drivers Licence
- LV Rescue & CPR qualified
- Proven experience as a refrigeration technician, preferably in a mining or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems, including knowledge of refrigerants and HVAC principles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols in industrial settings, particularly in mining environments.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
