As a Civil Engineer at Forrest Engineering, you will work across a range of residential and commercial projects from initial assessment through to design, documentation and construction support. The role will involve reviewing project and site information, undertaking engineering calculations and design, preparing drawings and technical documentation, conducting site inspections, and providing engineering support throughout project delivery. You will work closely with senior engineers, clients, architects, builders, certifiers, consultants and contractors to develop practical, compliant and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare and review civil and structural engineering designs, calculations and drawings for residential and commercial projects.
- Design and document foundations, slabs, footings, retaining structures and associated building components.
- Assess site and ground conditions and recommend appropriate engineering and foundation solutions.
- Determine suitable construction methods, materials and engineering requirements in accordance with project specifications.
- Use AutoCAD and relevant engineering analysis and design software to prepare and assess engineering solutions.
- Conduct site inspections to assess construction quality, site conditions and compliance with approved engineering documentation.
- Review structural and construction documentation, including relevant shop drawings, and assist with resolving technical issues.
- Assist with condition assessments, defect investigations and remedial engineering recommendations for existing structures.




- Prepare technical reports and project documentation and assist with estimates, schedules and quality requirements.
- Liaise with clients, builders, contractors, consultants and relevant authorities throughout project delivery, and undertake other related civil engineering duties as required.

About you

- Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Civil Engineering, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, or an equivalent relevant engineering qualification.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in civil, structural or building engineering, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
- Experience working across residential and/or commercial engineering projects.
- Practical experience with engineering design, calculations, technical documentation and site inspections.
- Experience using CAD, 3D modelling and/or engineering analysis and design software.
- Sound understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, including foundations, slabs, footings, reinforced concrete and retaining structures.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, surveys, geotechnical information and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and the National Construction Code.




- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail.
- Current Australian driver licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
