What You’ll Do

As our Principal Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the Gecko ecosystem, driving architectural improvements, software quality, and engineering excellence while remaining actively involved in development. You will also lead the adoption of AI coding assistants across the development team, establishing effective practices and helping engineers use AI safely and productively.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead solution design and architecture across the Gecko ecosystem.

Drive system modernisation, performance improvements, and architectural simplification and centralisation.

Design, develop, test, and implement software enhancements.

Establish and promote engineering standards, quality practices, and secure development principles.

Identify and mitigate technical risks, vulnerabilities, and performance issues.

Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

This role is offered on a full-time, 12-month fixed-term basis.

We are seeking a skilled software engineer and technical leader who enjoys solving complex problems, driving architectural improvements, and delivering high-quality software solutions.

You’ll bring:

Extensive experience in enterprise application development and solution architecture.

Solid software engineering and hands-on development expertise.

Excellent communication and relationship building skills to enable insights into current systems.

Experience designing scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.

Strong knowledge of software quality, testing, security, and engineering best practices.

Ability to explain technical concepts and communicate impacts clearly.

Excellent problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
