/n St John of God Geelong Hospital /n /n St John of God Geelong Hospital provides a comprehensive range of acute services to the rapidly growing coastal city. The modern and up-to-date hospital has a 24/7 accident and emergency department, a comprehensive surgical program supported by a 12-bed critical/intensive care unit, rapidly growing cardiology, medical, rehabilitation, and cancer services. /n /n We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses to join our Day Surgery Unit on casual basis. The unit operates Monday to Friday between 6:30 AM and 9:00 PM, with staggered shifts scheduled across these hours to support operational needs. /n /n Our Day Surgery Unit features 25 bays and on average sees around 80 cases per day , providing a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
We are looking for nurses who are adaptable, team-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality patient care. /n /n Previous experience in day surgery is preferred, and exposure to paediatric patients or cath-lab nursing will be highly regarded. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and professional team, making a difference in patients’ lives every day. /n /n As a Registered/Enrolled Nurse you’ll cater to the pre & post-operative journey of our surgical patients, with exposure to a range of specialities including General Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Dental, Plastics, ENT (involving a large number of Paediatrics) and Vascular. In addition, our Day Surgery Unit also accommodates pre & post-operative Cardiac Cath Lab patients, largely focusing on diagnostic angiograms. /n /n The Position /n /n
- /n Assesses plans, delivers and evaluates patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required. /n
- /n Promotes and contributes to effective communication,
facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital. /n
- /n Provides patient education and acts as a resource where appropriate. /n
- /n Supports and supervises staff and students as required, including orientating and precepting staff. /n
- /n Contributes to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives. /n
- /n Participate in patient assessments, including mental health, risk assessment and management, history taking and developing comprehensive nursing care plans. Ensuring risks are documented and appropriate interventions, referrals are facilitated. /n
- /n Administer medication within scope of the Enrolled Nurse classification and in accordance with statutory and organisational guidelines under the direct or indirect supervision of the Registered Nurse. /n
- /n Advise and educate patients regarding treatment and recovery in relevant specialty. /n /n /n You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse and demonstrate a minimum of 2 years clinical experience Day Surgery. You will demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care and satisfaction, along with well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills. /n /n To succeed you will have an ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team, with a commitment to ongoing education and professional development. /n /n Above all, patients will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.

- /n Enrolled Nurse Casual rate: $53.90 to $68.03 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus12% superannuation /n
- /n Registered Nurse Casual rate: $42.50 - $48.28 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation /n
