Are you an experienced Project Engineer looking for a genuine challenge where you’re given real autonomy and accountability for commercial outcomes?

This is an opportunity to join a leading Tier 2 civil infrastructure contractor where you’ll have genuine ownership across project delivery, with a strong focus on the commercial side of construction.

You’ll be trusted to identify and manage variations, control costs, manage subcontractors and drive project outcomes — rather than simply being responsible for the engineering.

The role offers the best of both worlds — predominantly office-based project delivery with regular site visits, giving you the prospect to stay connected to what's happening on the ground without being tied to site every day.

This is not a purely site-based engineering position. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in the commercial side of project delivery, including variations, cost management, subcontractor administration and contractual matters.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with the end-to-end delivery of civil infrastructure projects
- Manage project engineering, documentation and technical requirements
- Work closely with Project Managers to monitor programme, cost and project performance
- Identify,



prepare and negotiate variations and scope changes
- Assist with cost forecasting, progress claims and commercial reporting
- Manage subcontractor procurement, performance and contractual administration
- Review contracts, scopes, drawings and specifications
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities and potential project impacts
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and consultant/client correspondence
- Coordinate with subcontractors, consultants, suppliers and project stakeholders
- Maintain accurate project documentation and reportingSupport project close-out, final accounts and commercial reconciliation

About You

We’re looking for a Project Engineer with a commercial mindset who understands that successful project delivery is about more than just the technical side.

You’ll ideally have:

- Civil Engineering qualifications
- Previous experience within civil construction/infrastructure
- Experience working in a Project Engineer capacity
- Strong understanding of project delivery and construction methodologies
- Demonstrated experience with variations, cost management and commercial administration
- Good understanding of subcontractor management and contractual processes
