Path to Independence is currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Trainer and Assessor to join our team. This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $45-$55 per hour, a company fuel card for work-related travel, flexibility, and the opportunity to lead clinical training and competency development across our Supported Independent Living (SIL) services throughout Brisbane North and Southeast. We are currently seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Clinical Trainer and Assessor.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity for a Registered Nurse with strong clinical and training experience to play a key role in developing and maintaining a skilled disability support workforce. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering practical training, assessing competency, and signing off support workers and Team Leaders in a variety of standard and high-intensity support care plans across our SIL services.

You will also oversee training compliance, maintain training records, and coordinate refresher training requirements.

As part of the role, you will also be expected to cover rostered shifts across our SIL services when required, providing direct clinical support and maintaining continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Training & Competency Assessment Deliver training, competency assessments, and sign-off for support workers in:

- Complex Bowel Care (including Enemas)
- Complex Wound Care
- Diabetes Management (non-injectable supports)
- Enteral Feeding and PEG Management
- Respiratory Observations and Inhaler Assistance
- Severe Dysphagia Management
- Stoma Care (Colostomy and Ileostomy)
- Subcutaneous Injections and Insulin Administration
- Tracheostomy Management
- Urinary Catheter Management
- Ventilation Management

Train-the-Trainer Program

- Train and assess Team Leaders to become internal workplace trainers.
- Complete and sign off Train-the-Trainer documentation.




- Ensure Team Leaders are competent to train support staff in standard care plans and organisational procedures.

Compliance & Administration

- Maintain training records and registers.
- Monitor and schedule refresher training requirements.
- Ensure training and competency documentation meets NDIS Practice Standards and organisational requirements.
- Use computer-based systems to record and track staff qualifications, training, and compliance.

About You

Essential Requirements

- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Minimum 2 years' post-registration nursing experience.
- Demonstrated experience with complex health supports and clinical care.
- Experience delivering staff training, coaching, or competency assessments.
- Strong knowledge of NDIS High Intensity Daily Personal Activities supports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
- Current First Aid & CPR Certification.
- Current Queensland Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.

Desirable

- Previous experience within the disability, community, aged care, or SIL sector.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or equivalent) or willingness to obtain.
- Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators.
