Registered Psychologist | Group Private Practice | Paddington, Sydney

2 days per week | Psychology group practice | 70/30 fee split | Paddington

State of Being is growing, and we’re looking for another Registered Psychologist to join our group private practice for two days per week in Paddington.

This is a subcontractor role within an established psychology practice. You’ll be joining our existing team, receiving referrals through State of Being, and working within our practice systems, brand and client experience while retaining autonomy over your clinical work and caseload.

We currently have strong demand for weekday in-person psychology appointments , so we’re looking for someone who would like to build a sustainable two-day-per-week caseload as part of our team.

About State of Being

State of Being is a boutique, psychology-led group practice in Paddington, built around the idea that therapy and private practice can feel different.

We wanted to create spaces that feel warm and considered rather than clinical, therapy that feels authentic and collaborative, and a workplace where psychologists can love coming to work to do good work without unrealistic KPIs or pressure to maintain unsustainable caseloads.

Our work is predominantly with adults, with particular focus on areas including:

- ADHD and Autism
- Anxiety and perfectionism
- Burnout and overwhelm
- Relationships and interpersonal difficulties
- Identity, self-worth and life transitions
- Women’s mental health and motherhood

We’re particularly known for our work with neurodivergent adults, including women and people who may have spent many years masking or feeling misunderstood.

You don’t need to specialise in all of these areas. We’re very open to someone bringing their own clinical interests and strengths to the practice.

All clinicians at State of Being are expected to work from a neurodiversity-affirming perspective.

The Opportunity

This is a subcontractor position within our group psychology practice, based approximately two days per week from our Paddington rooms.

You’ll work as part of the State of Being group, with access to our referral pathways, administration, marketing, systems and practice support, while maintaining autonomy over your clinical work.

We don't believe in unrealistic KPIs, and want clinicians to feel they can set up a working schedule they love.

The role may particularly suit someone who:

- Wants to establish or grow their private practice work within an existing group practice
- Currently works elsewhere and would like to add two private practice days
- Wants the autonomy of subcontracting without having to manage all of the administration, marketing and practice infrastructure themselves
- Enjoys being part of a small, supportive psychology team with opportunities for connection and peer supervision
- Values a contemporary, warm and genuinely human approach to private practice

What You’ll Receive

- 70/30 fee split for all services you provide
- A beautiful, thoughtfully designed consulting space in Paddington, Sydney
- An established group practice with ongoing enquiries and referral pathways
- Administrative support for intake, bookings and client enquiries
- Marketing support and an established online presence
- Practice management systems and payment processing
- Flexibility and autonomy over your caseload
- Opportunities for supervision and qualified connection
- A small, supportive team without corporate-style KPIs or pressure

There is also scope to incorporate some telehealth into your work if this suits your caseload. About You To be considered for this role, you must:

- Hold full registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
- Be eligible to provide Medicare-rebatable psychological services
- Have (or be willing to get) your own ABN and be able to work as an independent subcontractor
- Be available to work approximately two days per week (we have flexibility on which days)
- Be interested in providing in-person therapy from Paddington

We’d also love to hear from psychologists who:

- Work in a neurodiversity-affirming and inclusive way
- Value evidence-based, thoughtful and collaborative psychological care
- Enjoy working with adult clients
- Want to create a warm and welcoming experience for clients
- Value autonomy while still enjoying the connection of a group practice
- Are reflective, curious and committed to ongoing learning
- Have clinical interests that complement or expand the work already offered at State of Being

Experience in private practice is welcome, but not necessary to be considered. More than anything, we’re looking for someone who feels aligned with the kind of group practice we’re building and wants a sustainable, enjoyable way of working as a psychologist.
