About the role

GCCC Labour Hire Pty Ltd runs residential group homes on the Gold Coast for people with disability. We are looking for an experienced Residential Care Officer to provide care, supervision and support to residents in our homes. You'll be employed directly by GCCC. Our focus is on empowerment, building skills and each resident's quality of life, and we're looking for someone who is committed to person-centred practice.

Key responsibilities

- Assess residents' needs, goals and risks, and contribute to developing, reviewing and updating Individual Support Plans (ISPs).
- Put ISPs and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) into practice, and monitor and record residents' progress against their goals.
- Provide care and supervision to residents, including help with daily living, personal care, nutrition and medication, while building their independence.
- Plan and support residents' participation in community, social, educational, vocational and recreational activities, including transport.
- Liaise with families, guardians, NDIS support coordinators,



behaviour support practitioners, health professionals and other agencies, and make referrals when needed.
- Respond to incidents and behaviours of concern, and use de-escalation strategies in line with BSPs.
- Keep accurate progress notes, incident reports and NDIS compliance documentation in real time.
- Help keep the home protected and of a high standard, including identifying and reporting maintenance needs.
- Guide and support less experienced support workers on shift.

Essential criteria

- A Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Disability or a relevant equivalent, or at least 3 years of relevant experience in residential disability or mental health support.
- Proven experience putting individual support and behaviour support plans into practice.
- Strong written communication and documentation skills.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Valid Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Current driver's licence.
