Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer

Triumph Consultants are looking for a Private SectorHousing Enforcement Officer to carry out HHSRS inspections, identifying hazards, and taking appropriate enforcement action where necessary to protect tenants and maintain protected housing conditions. Contract is for 3 months in NorthamptonNN1 1ED .

Private Sector Housing Enforcement Officer

Pay Rate: £21.67 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 37.5 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

Location:Northampton NN1 1ED

Must hold a full Driving License and have access to a car for business purposes

Key requirements

Housing Health and Safety Rating Scheme certified competency

Recent and substantial experience carrying out housing inspections and enforcement activity

Strong working knowledge of housing legislation with proven experience applying enforcement powers

Proven experience issuing Civil Financial Penalties under the Housing Act 2004 (candidates must be able to demonstrate hands-on experience taking action and issuing penalties, not just an understanding of the legislation)

Ability to hit the ground running with minimal training or supervision





Experience of working with or preparing cases for the First Tier Housing Tribunal would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities

Undertake a range of activities including property inspections, HHSRS assessments, the drafting of schedules of work and the preparation and serving of notices

Work collaboratively with the owners and managers of licensable HMOs to ensure that their properties are licensed, well managed and maintained

Respond to complaints about serious disrepair and housing-related nuisance in the private sector and, through investigation

Work proactively with internal and external authorities to investigate and accomplish role

Maintain professional competence and keep abreast of developments in relation to private sector housing enforcement
