Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service. Servicing the communities of Cape York, with the main office located in Cairns, Apunipima delivers public health care, and social and emotional well-being programs to community members. Being a part of the team at Apunipima means helping us deliver essential services as well as building capacity in communities to manage their own health care needs.

About the Opportunity

There is a genuine occupational requirement under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), for this position to be filled by an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person. The position is therefore only open to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the Suicide Prevention Education and Training project across participating Cape York communities.

Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- National Police Check within the last 3 months or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
- Diploma qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Project Management or discipline relevant to the position




- Demonstrated experience of more than 3 years working in the social and community services sector, preferably with Aboriginaland/or Torres Strait Islander people
- Experience working in suicide prevention, social and emotional wellbeing, mental health or community development programs
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing projects including community engagement, preparing project documentation, monitoring and evaluating projects
