With the continued increase in demand, the company needs a qualified and experienced Retail Butcher to join our team.

About the role

We We are seeking a skilled and reliable Retail Butcher to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis.



Working under the direction of the store or production supervisor, the successful applicant will be responsible for preparing, cutting, trimming and portioning meat products to customer and business specifications. The role involves maintaining high standards of product quality, hygiene and food safety while ensuring meat products are presented appropriately for retail sale.

This is a hands-on trade position offering a consistent Monday to Friday schedule with overtime available, and is suited to a candidate who takes pride in accurate, efficient work and secure food-handling practices.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Preparing meat products for retail sale by boning, trimming, slicing, mincing, and portioning meat according to specifications and customer requirements
- Producing marinated, seasoned, and value-added meat products
- Selecting and preparing meat for smallgoods production
- Operating meat processing equipment including grinders, mincers, mixers, and tenderising machines
- Preparing seasoning blends, marinades, and curing mixtures
- Using sausage fillers, smoking equipment, cooking kettles, and related machinery where required
- Providing customers with advice regarding meat selection, preparation, and cooking methods




- Assisting with stock control, production planning, and estimating product quantities as required

Skills and experience required

- A Certificate III or equivalent qualification, including at least two years of on-the-job training
- AQF Certificate IV relevant occupation (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
- Passion for the retail meat and butchery industry
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Professional presentation and positive work attitude
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and within a team
- Permanent Australian work rights without restrictions

Hours and remuneration This is a full-time position of approximately 38 ordinary hours per week, with overtime available. The remuneration for the role is $75,000 – $90,000 per annum, exclusive of superannuation, together with compulsory superannuation and any penalty rates, overtime and allowances payable under the Meat Industry Award 2020 (MA000059).
