Namaste Canberra Grocery is an established Asian supermarket in Canberra, offering a diverse range of Asian, South Asian and international grocery products, bakery and meat products. We are seeking an experienced and capable Retail Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our supermarket and support the continued growth of the business.

Retail Manager – Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of Namaste Grocery, ensuring efficient and profitable supermarket operations.
- Plan and manage product range, stock levels, ordering and replenishment, with particular focus on Asian, South Asian and international grocery products.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and wholesalers, including negotiating prices, delivery arrangements and product availability.
- Monitor sales performance, revenue, expenses and gross margins, and assist with budgeting and financial controls.
- Establish and monitor pricing, promotional and merchandising strategies to maximise sales and maintain competitiveness.
- Coordinate in-store promotions, advertising and marketing activities, including seasonal and culturally relevant promotions.
- Supervise, roster, train and support retail employees, including allocating daily duties and monitoring staff performance.
- Ensure appropriate customer service standards are maintained and handle customer enquiries, complaints and operational issues.
- Monitor inventory and conduct stocktake, investigate stock discrepancies, wastage and shrinkage, and implement appropriate controls.
- Ensure shelves, displays,



storage areas and the overall supermarket are maintained to appropriate presentation, cleanliness and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant work health and safety, food handling, retail and workplace requirements.
- Prepare and maintain records relating to stock, sales, purchasing, staff and financial transactions.
- Identify opportunities to improve store efficiency, customer satisfaction, product range and overall business performance.
- Coordinate with the business owners/directors regarding business planning, operational improvements and future growth.

Key Requirements:

- Relevant qualification in Retail Management, Business Management or a related field, or relevant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in retail management, preferably within a similar environment.
- Experience managing staff, rostering, training and performance.
- Strong knowledge of stock control, purchasing, merchandising and retail operations.
- Experience monitoring sales, budgets and financial performance.
- Solid communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy retail environment.
- Availability to work full-time, including weekends and public holidays as required

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
