Ironbark Financial Group is seeking a Risk & Compliance Manager to join our second line Group Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) team. Group GRC provides practical advice, oversight and challenge while working closely with business teams to support strong risk and compliance outcomes.
This role supports Ironbark Group’s governance, risk and compliance frameworks, with a primary day-to-day focus on Ironbark Advice and Ironbark Private Wealth.
You’ll support risk assessments , control design and effectiveness reviews, controls testing, assurance activities, risk reporting, AFSL compliance, AML/CTF compliance, and practical business engagement, while also contributing to broader Group initiatives. Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance – Advice & Private Wealth you’ll work with business leaders and key stakeholders across Ironbark Advice, Ironbark Private Wealth and the broader Ironbark Group.
This role can be based in any Ironbark office across Australia, with flexible working arrangements available.

About the Role The role forms part of the Group GRC function and balances contribution to Group-wide governance, risk, compliance and assurance initiatives with dedicated support for Ironbark’s financial advice businesses.
You’ll be supported by an experienced Group GRC team, with the opportunity to contribute across a range of activities and continue building capability over time.
This is a hands-on role involving practical support, documentation, registers, reporting, stakeholder follow-up and action tracking.
Responsibilities include
· Partner with Line 1 teams to embed Ironbark Group Risk and Compliance Frameworks across financial planning, investment management, accounting, lending and estate planning activities.
· Facilitate and support risk assessments, controls assurance, maintain risk registers, risk appetite monitoring, key risk indicators and related risk reporting
· Plan and perform controls testing and assurance activities, documenting outcomes, identifying gaps and tracking agreed actions
· Support AFSL compliance within Advice and Private Wealth, with a focus on AML/CTF compliance, ASIC lodgements, licence obligations and regulatory change activities
· Provide practical risk and compliance guidance to stakeholders, including in respect of operations, business change, outsourcing, acquisitions and growth initiatives
· Support the management of incidents, breaches and conflicts of interest, providing sound judgement on regulatory obligations and appropriate remediation.
· Provide governance and secretariat support for Advice & Private Wealth risk-related forums, including coordinating agendas, papers, risk and compliance insights and reporting, minutes, actions and reporting outputs
· Maintain accurate risk, control and compliance information in GRC systems, including Protecht, and support business continuity, operational resilience and risk awareness activities.
About You
We’re looking for someone with a practical risk and compliance mindset, positive judgement and strong attention to detail. Ideally, you’ll bring around 3+ years’ experience in financial services, risk management, assurance, governance, compliance or a related role, with exposure to AFSL obligations or financial advice preferred.
You may currently be working in risk and compliance, advice compliance, compliance monitoring, risk management, adviser supervision, licensee services, AML/CTF compliance, governance, assurance or controls testing. You’ll be comfortable working in a growing financial services business where priorities can shift and practical judgement is important.
You’ll bring
· Experience in, or exposure to, an AFSL-regulated financial advice, licensee or wealth management environment
· An understanding of financial advice businesses and the importance of strong licensee oversight
· The ability to interpret risk, regulatory, policy and procedural requirements and apply them in a practical way
· Experience supporting risk assessments, controls management and assurance, and issues management
· Strong written communication, reporting and documentation skills
· Strong Microsoft 365 skills, including confident use of Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· The confidence to engage with stakeholders and ask sensible questions
· Good attention to detail, follow-through and ownership of actions
· A willingness to contribute to broader group governance, operational risk, assurance, controls and compliance activities.
Highly regarded, but not essential:
· First or second line risk team experience
· Controls testing experience, including testing control design and operating effectiveness
· Understanding of risk management frameworks including risk assessment, management, assurance and oversight.
· Understanding of AFSL obligations, AML/CTF compliance, regulatory change or licence obligation activities
· Compliance monitoring, or regulatory assurance experience
· Incident, breach or complaints management experience
· Committee or Board reporting exposure
· Experience using GRC software, such as Protecht
