About the role

Valiant Gold is seeking an experienced Safety & Training Coordinator to join its owner's team at Comet Underground Operations in Western Australia's Murchison Region. Working 8 days on, 6 days off FIFO roster, you will provide visible, practical support across health and safety, workforce training, inductions, emergency response and operational risk management. Working closely with the Site Senior Executive, site leaders and contracting partners, you will help maintain the Mine Safety Management System and support compliance with Western Australian WHS legislation and Valiant Gold standards.

Key responsibilities

- Coordination, maintenance and continual improvement of the site MSMS.
- Maintain a robust field presence through workplace inspections, task observations, hazard reporting and critical control verification.
- Coordinate emergency response capability, including drills, training attendance and equipment readiness.
- Coordinate incident and near-miss reporting, support investigations and monitor corrective actions to effective close-out.
- Support occupational health and hygiene programs relevant to underground operations.
- Verify contractor HSE systems, procedures and work practices against Valiant Gold requirements.
- Participate in contractor onboarding, audits, inspections and performance reviews.
- Verify worker licences, competencies, inductions and training records before work begins.
- Coordinate training needs analysis,



site inductions, refresher training and verification of competency activities.
- Maintain records for training, inductions, licences, high-risk work tickets and VOCs.

About you You are a practical and approachable safety and training professional with demonstrated underground mining experience. You work confidently with crews, supervisors and contractors, communicate clearly and turn legislative and company requirements into workable site outcomes.

Essential requirements

- Site-based HSE or safety and training experience in underground mining.
- Strong knowledge of Western Australian WHS mining legislation.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- Emergency response coordination experience.
- Incident investigation, auditing and risk management experience or certification.
- Current first aid qualification.
- Current unrestricted manual driver's licence.
- Competence using HSE and training systems, incident reporting platforms and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to analyse HSE performance and manage contractor compliance records.
- Unrestricted Australian working rights and ability to provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia.

Desirable

- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Mental Health First Aid qualification.
