Sales and Client Support

EventLab | Hobart (hybrid) | 4 days a week

$80,000 (pro-rata) $8,000 bonus super

About us

We're EventLab, a Hobart software company doing something exciting: we build the platform that event organisers use to plan and run everything from local community days to major festivals. The site map, the schedule, the crew, the gear, all in one place. Councils and festivals right across Australia run their events on our software, and we've just started doing the same in the US.

We're a small, tight team, which means the work you do here matters and you'll see the difference you make. We care a lot about how we work, not just what we get done: we're honest with each other and with our customers, we do what we say we'll do, and we trust each other to get on with it. No egos, no politics, just valuable people building something we're proud of.

We're growing, and we're looking for someone to grow with us.

The role

You'd be our first dedicated sales and client support person, which means you'd be the friendly human our customers meet: finding event organisers who'd love what we do, showing them how it works, helping them get set up, and being the reassuring voice when they need a hand.

You don't need to know software. You don't need to know events. We'll teach you both. What we're really after is someone people warm to, and someone who genuinely wants to help.

What you'd do

- Reach out to event organisers and councils and start genuine conversations

- Follow up thoughtfully and keep in touch with people over time

- Run friendly, low-pressure demos of the platform, once you know it

- Help new customers get set up and answer their questions

- Keep our CRM up to date so we always know where things stand

- Build lists, spot opportunities, and share what you're hearing from the market

- Travel both internationally and interstate to support events and present at trade shows and conferences

What makes this role rewarding

We'll be honest with you, because that's how we do things here: sales takes patience and a bit of grit. Not everyone replies straight away, and part of the craft is staying warm, positive and persistent while you build genuine relationships over time.

The people who thrive at this are the ones who enjoy the long game, who get a real kick out of the follow-up that finally lands, the demo that clicks, the customer who says "this is exactly what we needed." If that sounds like you, this is a role where your energy and persistence pay off, and where we'll back you the whole way with training and support.

What we're looking for

- You're warm and you like people. You're easy to talk to and you'd genuinely rather help someone than hit a target at their expense.

- You're self-driven. We're a small team and we trust people to run their own patch.

You can pick something up and go without being chased.

- You're honest and reliable. You do what you say you'll do, you own it when something slips, and people can count on you. This matters to us more than almost anything.

- You're comfortable with a computer. Spreadsheets don't faze you and you can find your way around new software.

- You're curious and up for learning. You ask questions and you want to understand how things work.

- You're resilient and positive. You can take a knock-back, keep your chin up, and go again.

Nice but not needed: any experience in sales, events, or tech. If you've been great in retail or hospitality, you're exactly the kind of person we'd love to hear from. You already know how to read people, look after them, and stay upbeat on a busy day, and that's most of the job.

The details

- 4 days a week, flexible on which

- Hybrid: Mondays and Wednesdays together in our Hobart office, the rest from home

- $64,000 base $8,000 on-target bonus super (pro rata of $80,000 base $10,000 bonus at full time)

- A small, friendly team where you'll have real ownership and see your impact

- Full training in the platform, the industry, and how to sell well, we'll set you up to succeed

How to apply

Send us a CV and tell us, in a few lines, about a time you helped someone walk away happier than they arrived. Doesn't have to be work. We're more interested in how you write than what's on the CV. Please send all applications to ****@eventlab.com.au
