Sales Consultant – BYD Gosford
Love technology? Great with people? Ready for something bigger?
You don't need car sales experience to start a career with BYD Gosford. Maybe you're currently selling phones, TVs or computers. Maybe you're running shifts in a busy restaurant, working in hospitality, or helping customers in a fast-paced retail environment.
You've already learned how to talk to people, solve problems, work under pressure and deliver great customer service.
Now you're wondering what's next.
This could be it.
The automotive industry is changing
Cars aren't just cars anymore. They're becoming connected technology platforms packed with software, intelligent features, advanced driver assistance, electric powertrains and increasingly AI-driven technology.
And BYD is at the forefront of that change.
We're looking for someone who is genuinely interested in technology and wants to turn that interest — and their people skills — into a serious career.
We're not looking for a traditional car salesperson
We're much more interested in attitude, personality and potential. You might be perfect for us if you:
- Love technology and enjoy learning about new products
- Have an interest in AI, EVs, gadgets, gaming or emerging technology
- Are naturally confident talking to people
- Know how to explain technology without making it complicated
- Enjoy working towards targets
- Are competitive and motivated to improve
- Are comfortable with social media, video and digital tools
- Want your effort and performance to influence what you earn
- Are looking for a career rather than just your next job
If you're the person your friends ask about their next phone, computer, AI app or piece of technology, we'd particularly like to hear from you.
What will you actually do?
We'll teach you how to take a customer from their first enquiry through to driving away in their new BYD. You'll demonstrate some of the newest vehicle technology available in Australia, conduct test drives, respond to online enquiries, create video content, build relationships with customers and help people choose the right vehicle.
You'll also learn how a modern dealership uses AI, digital tools, video and social media to communicate with customers and sell cars.
You don't need to know how to do all of that today.
We'll teach you.
And this can become a real career
We're not recruiting someone simply to fill a sales desk. We're looking for someone with the potential to grow with us.
Automotive retail can lead to careers in sales management, dealership management, marketing, training, manufacturer roles, dealer development and emerging automotive technology.
For someone with ambition, the traditional dealership career path can take you from:
Sales Consultant → Sales Manager → General Sales Manager → General Manager → Dealer Principal
How far you take it is ultimately up to you.
What you'll get
You'll receive a base salary plus commission, giving you the opportunity to increase your earnings as your skills and results develop. You'll receive training, support and exposure to an industry undergoing one of the biggest technological transformations in its history.
You'll work with a successful team representing one of Australia's fastest-growing automotive brands.
And you'll be joining at a time when electric vehicles, AI and new technology are completely changing the automotive industry.
Think you're not a "car salesperson"?
Good. We're not necessarily looking for one.
We're looking for someone who's excellent with people, excited by technology, willing to learn and hungry for an opportunity.
How to apply
Send us your resume and a short cover letter. Don't worry about making the cover letter overly formal. We'd rather hear from the real you.
In your cover letter, tell us:
1. Why does this opportunity interest you?
2. What's a piece of technology, an AI tool or a new product you've become genuinely interested in recently — and why?
3. Tell us about a time you had to win over a customer, solve a difficult problem or achieve a challenging target.
4. Where would you like your career to be in five years?
5. Why should we interview you if you've never sold a car before?
There aren't necessarily "right" answers. We're interested in how you think, how you communicate and what motivates you.
Generic applications that don't address the questions above may not progress to interview.
