SENIOR ADVISOR - WORKPLACE HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT (HSE)

The Opportunity

Lee Crane Hire (LCH) is a privately owned company with over 40 years servicing the mining, energy, industrial and construction industriesin Central Queensland. We are seeking an outstanding and motivated individual tolead and continuously improve our WHSEQ systems, compliance and operational risk management functions.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with operational leaders, this role will influence safety performance, drive continual improvement and maintain strong client and regulatory relationships across multiple sites.

Thisroleis based at our head office in Biloela. This position is based on a Monday to Friday schedule and comes with an industry-competitive remuneration package.

Possessing relevant Occupational Health and Safety or Work Health & Safety qualifications, this is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your advisory skills and hands‑on management of all WHS related matters to ensurecompany compliance with legislation, industry standards, contracts and company policies.

As a proactive and enthusiastic team player, you will manage key tasks and projects in consultation with the Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain effective relationships with client representatives, site safety personnel, supervisors and operational leaders

Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments and implement relevant controls

Lead incident investigations using ICAM or equivalent methodologies to determine root causes, contributing factors & corrective actions. Create investigation reports and respond to client requirements.





Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions and lessons learned

Develop and deliver Toolbox Talks, Safety Bulletins, Alerts and communication Briefs across the business. Communicate lessons learned from incidents and audits

Develop, review and maintain SWMS, Management Plans, policies, procedures, standards, forms and other controlled WHSEQ documentation to ensure compliance with legislative, contractual and business requirements.

Lead and participate in client, contractor and site‑based safety meetings, audits and compliance reviews as required.

Support tender submissions, client audits and contractor prequalification requirements

Oversee the development and implementation of WHS systems, proceduresandcompliance strategies including Key Performance Indicators.

Ensure compliance and company performance are in line with legislated safety, environment and contractual requirements.

Promote and exemplify the LCH Vision, Core Values, and LCH 8 in all workplace interactions and activities.

Conduct and coordinate inspections and audits ensuring compliance to both company and client systems

Maintain WHSEQ registers and reporting systems, providing meaningful analysis of incidents, hazards, audit findings, lead and lag indicators, emerging risks and improvement opportunities to support informed decision-making.





Provide regular WHS statistical reports to the management, project and commercial teams

Providing coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to LCH employees and management

Ensure records are maintained and compliant in line with WHS Legislation

Lead, mentor, and support Health and Safety Representatives, ensuring the effective operation of the Health and Safety Committee.

Oversee Fitness for Work processes including the drug and alcohol testing regime

Lead the organisation's compliance framework for Chain of Responsibility legislation and Heavy Vehicle National Law requirements, ensuring effective governance and risk management.

Required Qualifications and Minimum Experience

- Relevant WHS Qualifications (Minimum Cert IV or Advanced Diploma)
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment an advantage
- A high-risk ticket is preferred but not essential (Cranes & Rigging)
- Solid understanding of mine site & legislative WHS requirements
- A minimum of 3 years mining and civil industry experience in a similar position (Highly regarded)
- Experience developing safety programs
- Excellent verbal & non-verbal communication skills and work well within a team environment
