The Security Manager provides hands-on leadership of an integrated protective security function supporting a high-profile organisation in Sydney, NSW. This role requires strong operational judgement, sound decision-making, and the ability to uphold robust security standards while building trusted relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. The Security Manager is responsible for implementing the security framework and providing day-to-day operational leadership across the security function. The role ensures security arrangements remain effective, compliant, and fit for purpose, overseeing guard operations, incident management, contractor performance, stakeholder engagement, emergency response coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external agencies, the Security Manager maintains operational readiness, drives skilled standards, and contributes to the ongoing development of security systems, procedures, and personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

- Security Operations - Lead daily security operations, maintain readiness and standards, ensure guards understand procedures, and promote a professional, community-aware security culture.
- Governance & Procedures - Maintain SOPs, post orders, emergency procedures, and controlled security documentation to support a practical operating framework.
- Risk & Incident Management - Monitor threats, coordinate incident response and investigations, manage reporting and escalation, and identify recurring risks or improvement actions.
- Contractor & Guard Management - Manage guarding providers and contractors, monitor performance and compliance,



coordinate attendance and maintenance, and escalate service gaps.
- Security Systems - Oversee CCTV, access control, alarms, keys, and duress systems, including checks, audits, maintenance, and improvement recommendations.
- Training & Preparedness - Deliver inductions, drills, and briefings, maintain training records, promote awareness and professional standards, and track post-incident improvements.
- Stakeholder Engagement - Liaise with staff, community stakeholders, site users and support security planning for events and high-attendance periods.
- Reporting & Improvement - Prepare reports and metrics, track actions and initiatives, and recommend practical improvements to readiness, compliance, and effectiveness.
- Budget & Administration - Monitor expenditure and contractor costs, support budgeting and procurement, maintain records, and report cost variances or recurring issues.

Qualifications & Experience

- Hold, or be eligible to obtain, all licences and registrations required by the Security Licensing & Enforcement Directorate (SLED), subject to Australian work rights and visa eligibility.
- Minimum five years' experience in security operations, military, law enforcement, risk management, security consulting, or a related protective security environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and delivering security outcomes within a complex, high-profile, or operationally sensitive environment.
- Experience coordinating incident response, emergency management, stakeholder engagement, and contractor performance.
- Sound understanding of security risk management, protective security principles, and operational governance frameworks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, service providers, and external agencies.
