About the Role

We are seeking an analytically strong and commercially minded Senior Analyst, Financial Risk to join our Governance, Risk & Resilience team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Financial Risk, this is a specialist Line 2 role supporting the independent oversight, monitoring and analysis of Avant's financial risk profile across the Group.

You will work closely with Finance, Treasury, Investment, Actuarial and business stakeholders to provide independent review and challenge, support risk framework activities, deliver insightful reporting, and contribute to assessments of key business decisions and change initiatives.

This is an excellent opportunity for a risk professional with experience in financial services who enjoys translating complex financial and regulatory information into meaningful risk insights.

Key Responsibilities

- Support independent Line 2 oversight and challenge of financial risks across the Avant Group.
- Monitor risk appetite metrics, tolerances, limits and key financial risk indicators.
- Analyse and monitor capital, liquidity, credit, investment, market, treasury and financial reporting risks.
- Assist in identifying emerging financial risk exposures and support escalation where required.
- Prepare concise and meaningful financial risk reporting for management, risk committees and the Board.
- Contribute to stress testing, scenario analysis and thematic risk reviews.
- Participate in project and change initiatives by providing financial risk input and constructive challenge.
- Support reviews of policies, business cases, strategic proposals and committee submissions.
- Assist with the annual placement and renewal of the Group corporate insurance programme.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of Avant's Financial Risk Framework, policies and reporting practices.

About You

You are a curious and collaborative risk professional who combines strong analytical capability with sound judgement and the confidence to provide constructive challenge.

You'll bring

Qualifications





- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Risk Management or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA, CFA, FRM or similar professional qualification (or progress towards completion) is highly regarded.

Experience

- Approximately 3 to 5 years' experience in financial risk, enterprise risk, finance, treasury, investments, accounting, audit or a related financial services environment.
- Experience within insurance, banking, superannuation or another APRA-regulated industry will be highly regarded.
- Exposure to financial risk disciplines including capital, liquidity, credit, investment, market, treasury or financial reporting risk.
- Experience preparing risk analysis, dashboards, management reporting or committee papers.
- Exposure to Line 2 risk management is advantageous, though experience from Line 1, audit, finance or advisory environments will also be considered.

- Robust analytical and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to interpret financial and non-financial information to identify emerging risk themes and insights.
- Understanding of risk management frameworks, controls, risk appetite and issues management.
- Knowledge of APRA-regulated environments and prudential requirements.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to engage stakeholders, build trusted relationships and maintain appropriate independent challenge.
- Strong organisation, planning and documentation skills.
