Overview:

An established energy advisory firm seeks a Senior Consultant to deliver electricity market modelling across the NEM. You will turn modelling outputs into clear commercial advice on investment, pricing and market risk.

Suits a modeller with 4 to 6 years' experience who enjoys client work as much as the numbers.

Responsibilities:

- Build, run and maintain NEM market models for price projections, dispatch outcomes and asset revenue forecasts
- Model generation, storage and renewable assets under a range of market, policy and technology scenarios
- Run scenario and sensitivity analysis on demand, fuel prices, new entry, retirements and transmission
- Keep modelling assumptions current with rule changes, policy developments and market reform
- Interpret modelling results and translate them into clear commercial insights for clients
- Understand each client's business problem and shape the modelling approach around it
- Prepare and present reports and slide packs to clients, explaining results, drivers and risks
- Act as the day to day technical contact on projects, managing scope, timelines and quality
- Review analysis prepared by junior team members and provide feedback




- Contribute to proposals and support subscription and advisory work as the team grows
- Help improve modelling tools, datasets and internal processes

Required Experience:

- 4 to 6 years in electricity market modelling, advisory or analytics
- Strong NEM market knowledge, including how pricing, dispatch and recent investment interact
- Hands on experience with PLEXOS or any comparable market modelling platform, including proprietary tools
- Proven ability to explain complex modelling to commercial and non technical audiences
- Confident presenter who can engage clients on their issues, not just the outputs
- Background in consultancy, a generator, retailer, market operator or network business
- Exposure to transactions, investment decisions or asset valuations well regarded but not required
- Strong data handling skills, with Python, SQL, R or advanced Excel

Qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics or a related quantitative field
- Postgraduate study in energy, economics or a quantitative discipline well regarded
