Senior Defence Project Manager (NV1) | Canberra

Location: Canberra, ACT — at least three days per week on site

Engagement: Full time contract

Start: As soon as possible

Initial term: To 30 June 2027, with possible extension

Clearance: Current Australian Government NV1 or higher

Travel: Occasional travel may be required

Azooa is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a complex Defence capability delivery program in Canberra. You will work with an integrated, multidisciplinary team and provide senior project management and leadership support across planning, governance and delivery.

What you will do

- Plan, schedule and estimate project work to meet delivery requirements.
- Manage contracts and budgets under the guidance of senior project leadership.
- Prepare project documentation and support review, clearance and approval processes.
- Advise on project management methods, risks, scope and delivery options.
- Establish milestones, assign responsibilities and track work against time, cost and quality targets.
- Provide clear advice to executives, managers and project teams.
- Lead and mentor a diverse, integrated team, build strong stakeholder relationships and support continuous improvement.
- Help deliver agreed outcomes within scope, budget and compliance requirements.





What you will bring

- Current and relevant Defence project management experience.
- Leadership experience with an integrated, multidisciplinary project team.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or relevant industry or domain experience, plus a recognised project management or related professional qualification.
- A current Australian Government NV1 security clearance or higher.
- Ability to work on site in Canberra for at least three days per week.
- Strong judgement, stakeholder communication and the ability to take responsibility for outcomes under limited direction.
- An adaptable approach to risk, delivery and team development.
